Just wondering what I can test this out on. I tried in an iMac G3 333 this morning. The CD booted, but on trying the install it couldn't find CD/DVD media. Now that I think about it it's probably because the CD didn't have the install stuff on it .. I didn't get around to trying a net install yet but will do this afternoon. Anyway, if there's a list of hardware this will work on i can at least help testing things out, have a lot of older hardware here to play with these days. Actually, there has been a report of the CD not working for this particular model - it was a 350MHz iMac, but the network was OK (GEM ethernet) so a network install was done. The h/w of that model is quite similar to a bunch that work just fine so I have no idea what is going wrong. later, Peter. FreeBSD/PPC expects that the disk will have an Apple partition map. The partition numbers mirror those of the APM partitions (e.g. ad0s1 is the partition map itself). later, Peter. Got the same results, that the drive was busy along with the warning that it couldn't use the swap either (same problem, device busy). It also was unable to find the install CD/DVD media. Maybe this is something isolated to iMacs? Unfortunately I don't have another machine here at this time to test against as well. Might have to disable this for PPC :( Try a manual partition e.g. use the arrow keys to scroll to a partition, and then pick 'C' to create. You will be prompted to pick between filesystem and swap, and if you pick filesystem, you are then prompted for the mountpoint. I generally use one big partition for '/', and one for swap and that's it. > It also was unable to find the install CD/DVD media. That's the known problem with that particular model. later, Peter.
