As root, "kldload ucom.ko", "kldload uvisior.ko" allows access to /dev/ucom0 when the Palm device is in "hot sync" mode. After hot-sync is complete, "kldunload uvisor.ko" releases the named kernel module. "kldunload ucom.ko", however, returns the message "Device busy", and the module is not removed. A brief history: http://lists.freebsd.org/mailman/htdig/freebsd-usb/2005-March/000695.html http://lists.freebsd.org/mailman/htdig/freebsd-usb/2005-July/001254.html http://lists.freebsd.org/mailman/htdig/freebsd-usb/2005-July/001265.html I tried the patch of Mr. M. Warner Losh and voila! No "device busy" anymore, but when sending a print job, the kernel reports: "ulpt0: offline", and stays offline, although the printer is turned on. Is it a somewhat known issue, or should I supply additional debug information? Sincerely, Eugene. The following will create a lot of messages: sysctl hw.usb.uhci.debug=15 To disable debugging: sysctl hw.usb.uhci.debug=0 Enable UHCI debugging, then download data from your USB device. When the host controller halts, send me some pages of messages before "host controller halted" and all messages after. Then wait some minutes for a USBD_TIMEOUT message from the umass driver, if any. After HotSync-ing successfully with this version of pilot-link using a serial-cable cradle (/dev/cuaa0) on this system (Toshiba Satellite Pro 6100), I dug out my USB cradle to see what might come of it.
