But it might be an idea to make a small utility, usbconfig, that can do such things. Currently I see that it is also necessary to be able to set the config of some USB devices manually. For example if an IPod device should attach as "umass" or "uhid". --HPS From owner-freebsd-usb@FreeBSD.ORG Thu Dec 15 22:56:02 2005 Return-Path: X-Original-To: freebsd-usb@hub.freebsd.org Delivered-To: freebsd-usb@hub.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 6C97916A41F; Thu, 15 Dec 2005 22:56:02 +0000 (GMT) (envelope-from pjd@FreeBSD.org) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (freefall.freebsd.org [216.136.204.21]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id A203343D49; Thu, 15 Dec 2005 22:56:01 +0000 (GMT) (envelope-from pjd@FreeBSD.org) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (pjd@localhost [127.0.0.1]) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.13.4/8.13.4) with ESMTP id jBFMu1uf001620; Thu, 15 Dec 2005 22:56:01 GMT (envelope-from pjd@freefall.freebsd.org) Received: (from pjd@localhost) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.13.4/8.13.4/Submit) id jBFMu12H001616; Thu, 15 Dec 2005 22:56:01 GMT (envelope-from pjd) Date: Thu, 15 Dec 2005 22:56:01 GMT From: Pawel Jakub Dawidek Message-Id: <200512152256.jBFMu12H001616@freefall.freebsd.org> To: pjd@FreeBSD.org, freebsd-usb@FreeBSD.org, pjd@FreeBSD.org Cc: Subject: Re: usb/89889: [quirk] [patch] Motorola E398 Mobile Phone (TransFlash drive) X-BeenThere: freebsd-usb@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: FreeBSD support for USB List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Thu, 15 Dec 2005 22:56:02 -0000 Synopsis: [quirk] [patch] Motorola E398 Mobile Phone (TransFlash drive) Responsible-Changed-From-To: freebsd-usb->pjd Responsible-Changed-By: pjd Responsible-Changed-When: Thu Dec 15 22:55:45 UTC 2005 Responsible-Changed-Why: I'll take this one. http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/query-pr.cgi?pr=89889 From owner-freebsd-usb@FreeBSD.ORG Thu Dec 15 23:00:15 2005 Return-Path: X-Original-To: freebsd-usb@hub.freebsd.org Delivered-To: freebsd-usb@hub.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 287E016A41F for ; Thu, 15 Dec 2005 23:00:15 +0000 (GMT) (envelope-from gnats@FreeBSD.org) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (freefall.freebsd.org [216.136.204.21]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 7493343D5D for ; Thu, 15 Dec 2005 23:00:13 +0000 (GMT) (envelope-from gnats@FreeBSD.org) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (gnats@localhost [127.0.0.1]) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.13.4/8.13.4) with ESMTP id jBFN0D7E001802 for ; Thu, 15 Dec 2005 23:00:13 GMT (envelope-from gnats@freefall.freebsd.org) Received: (from gnats@localhost) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.13.4/8.13.4/Submit) id jBFN0DVQ001801; Thu, 15 Dec 2005 23:00:13 GMT (envelope-from gnats) Resent-Date: Thu, 15 Dec 2005 23:00:13 GMT Resent-Message-Id: <200512152300.jBFN0DVQ001801@freefall.freebsd.org> Resent-From: FreeBSD-gnats-submit@FreeBSD.org (GNATS Filer) Resent-To: freebsd-usb@FreeBSD.org Resent-Reply-To: FreeBSD-gnats-submit@FreeBSD.org, Adam McDougall Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 9FD5216A41F for ; Thu, 15 Dec 2005 22:52:48 +0000 (GMT) (envelope-from nobody@FreeBSD.org) Received: from www.freebsd.org (www.freebsd.org [216.136.204.117]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 5FEF843D68 for ; Thu, 15 Dec 2005 22:52:48 +0000 (GMT) (envelope-from nobody@FreeBSD.org) Received: from www.freebsd.org (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by www.freebsd.org (8.13.1/8.13.1) with ESMTP id jBFMqmIN005598 for ; Thu, 15 Dec 2005 22:52:48 GMT (envelope-from nobody@www.freebsd.org) Received: (from nobody@localhost) by www.freebsd.org (8.13.1/8.13.1/Submit) id jBFMqmLJ005597; Thu, 15 Dec 2005 22:52:48 GMT (envelope-from nobody) Message-Id: <200512152252.jBFMqmLJ005597@www.freebsd.org> Date: Thu, 15 Dec 2005 22:52:48 GMT From: Adam McDougall To: freebsd-gnats-submit@FreeBSD.org X-Send-Pr-Version: www-2.3 Cc: Subject: usb/90467: Patch to recognize HP 8200C Scanner X-BeenThere: freebsd-usb@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: FreeBSD support for USB List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Thu, 15 Dec 2005 23:00:15 -0000 >Number: 90467 >Category: usb >Synopsis: Patch to recognize HP 8200C Scanner >Confidential: no >Severity: non-critical >Priority: low >Responsible: freebsd-usb >State: open >Quarter: >Keywords: >Date-Required: >Class: change-request >Submitter-Id: current-users >Arrival-Date: Thu Dec 15 23:00:13 GMT 2005 >Closed-Date: >Last-Modified: >Originator: Adam McDougall >Release: 6.0-RELEASE >Organization: >Environment: FreeBSD scan003.domain 6.0-RELEASE FreeBSD 6.0-RELEASE #0: Mon Nov 21 17:31:51 EST 2005 root@scan003.domain:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/SCAN-6 i386 >Description: The HP 8200C/8250C/8290C all have the same USB ID as far as I know, and they all work with sane-backends, but only if the kernel recognizes them as scanner devices in uscanner.
