>Organization:
>Environment:
Sun SunFire V20z - http://www.sun.com/servers/entry/v20z/index.jsp
>Description:
I've installed both FreeBSD 5.4 and FreeBSD 6.0 on a SunFire V20z
(dual processor version) and it works very well.
I never noticed any problems with it, except for the front panel LCD display
which would probably require a custom driver. I never tried X, but the
console worked fine. dmesg from both 5.4 and 6.0 and output of
"pciconf -lv" attached.
The motherboard inside seems to be unbranded, so I guess it'll have to go
under a "Sun" entry on the website.
>How-To-Repeat:
Buy one and install FreeBSD :)
>Fix:

Reorganise the directory structure. Simple little thing but makes so much=
=20
difference to new users.
I am prepared to take charge of it if desired.
Details:
Rearrange the filesystem to make more sense and to logically arrange=20
everything
The new filesystem would be as follows
/usr =3D things pertaining to users
/sys =3D contains the kernels (in /sys/boot) and anything ESSENTIAL to runn=
ing=20
the system
/home =3D home directories
/usr now has the following subdirectories
/cfg =3D configuration
/lib =3D libraries
/bin =3D binaries
/sys contains anything pertaining to the kernel or global configuration eg=
=20
/sys/cfg/sudoers.cfg
anyway, sorry for the long mail and it might not seem like a priority, but=
=20
the directory structure is what trips up a load of new users and in order t=
o=20
spread BSD I think we need to change the structure.
The developers behind it would like a new CVS tree for it please as it woul=
d=20
require kernel modification.
Thanks for reading.

Because there were some infrastructure changes (we don't have the
ports/INDEX file in CVS anymore) that require the search script to be
reworked before it can be made to work for newer releases, and nobody
has done that (yet).

I would like to add three more systems to the supported list at:
http://www.freebsd.org/platforms/amd64/motherboards.html
HP BL45p (four processor, dual core system), dmesg, acpidump and pciconf at:
http://people.fsn.hu/~bra/bl45p/
No problems.
HP DL380G4 (Intel EM64T system, two Xeon 3,6 GHz stuff, built in and additional SmartArray 6400 controller), dmesg at:
http://people.fsn.hu/~bra/bl45p/dl380dmesg
and a Sun V20z (dual Opterons), for which I currently don't have dmesg.
All of these work OK, I haven't found any problems yet.

I know it's been sometime since the last update of the redesign layout, but=
=20
I have some big things being built in the jungle of dub dub dub >:)
At any rate, my main focus has been the resizing issue. Alas, I didn't do a=
=20
good job to make people realize this will not resize well in IE or Opera=20
unless we used tables, and that isn't a real option.
So here is the question:
Should I use JavaScript to detect the browser (specifically, IE or Opera,=
=20
since FF resizes it just swell) or let the people that use Opera and/or IE=
=20
suffer the consequences of going below 700 pixels?

FreeBSD traszkan.ds7 5.4-RELEASE FreeBSD 5.4-RELEASE #2: Wed May 11 19:24:26 CEST 2005 trasz@traszkan.ds7:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/TRASHCAN i386
>Description:
the 'anti-robot' input field at http://www.freebsd.org/send-pr.html requires the alphanumeric string to be entered uppercase. while the string on the picture _is_ uppercase, some people don't think that case matters when using it for the first time.

Synopsis: http://www.freebsd.org/send-pr.html anti-robot field reqires input to be entered in uppercase.
Responsible-Changed-From-To: freebsd-www->ceri
Responsible-Changed-By: ceri
Responsible-Changed-When: Wed Jun 8 17:07:37 GMT 2005
Responsible-Changed-Why:
Actually it requires the input to be the same case as the image (which
might be lower case); I will look at adding a notification of case
sensitivity here.

True. Layout in pure 100% CSS is tricky when the width of the browser
window is small even with Mozilla-based browsers. I've been trying to
find a nice CSS-only layout for my weblog for several months now, and
I've finally reached a point where writing my own Wordpress theme that
uses a moderate amount of tables is the only way to look good on most
browsers.

Nah. I'd just use tables if that works better :-)
