Hi.
It seems that KOI8-R encoding is missed somehow by Xorg project.
I have the file ready to contribute:

http://koi8.pp.ru/koi8-r.enc

Could you please add it to xorg-fonts-encodings port?
It will be also nice to submit it to Xorg, but I don't know any
contacts there at all. Could you help, please?
Thanx in advance.

PRs are the best way to keep things from getting dropped on the floor
forever.

Synopsis: Problems with XFree86-libraries

State-Changed-From-To: open->closed
State-Changed-By: anholt
State-Changed-When: Sun Oct 16 08:33:05 GMT 2005
State-Changed-Why:
Sounds like you have the 4.2.0 version of imake installed, which lacked this
file -- the current version is 4.5.0. Please use portupgrade to upgrade your
XFree86 installation. If that doesn't work (due to an up-to-date but broken
installation), try just reinstalling imake-4.

If we're going to figure out what's wrong, we need to know what video
card you have, and likely what AGP chipset since that's (notably)
removed in your kernel that works. /var/log/Xorg.0.log from a working X
startup would be important, and possibly the log from a kernel that you
 get the hang on.

Does the problem continue if you try xorg-server-snap as a replacement
for xorg-server? If it does, I'll see if I see anything relevant
 post-6.8.99.16 to merge.

I'm trying to use the mikachan font=20
(http://sourceforge.jp/projects/mikachan/), but for some reason X refuses t=
o=20
recognize the font as being fixed-width and thus I cannot use it in the=20
applications I want to use it in.

Windows recognizes the font as fixed-width without any hitch. I am totally=
=20
clueless as to where even start and try to work around this. Where is the b=
ug=20
in - freetype, X, xft?

Any hints much appreciated,

Hi, Eric!

After a long time of not using DRI/GLX, I decided to try again today.

The video card is

drm0: <ATI Radeon RV280 9200 SE> port 0x9000-0x90ff mem 0xc0000000-0xcfffffff,0xbe4f0000-0xbe4fffff irq 17 at device 5.0 on pci2
info: [drm] Initialized radeon 1.16.0 20050311 on minor 0

This is a PCI Radeon in a FreeBSD-6RC1/amd64. When the X-server starts, it says:

error: [drm:pid731:drm_ati_pcigart_cleanup] *ERROR* no scatter/gather memory!
error: [drm:pid731:radeon_do_cleanup_cp] *ERROR* failed to cleanup PCI GART!
error: [drm:pid731:drm_ati_pcigart_cleanup] *ERROR* no scatter/gather memory!
error: [drm:pid731:radeon_do_cleanup_cp] *ERROR* failed to cleanup PCI GART!
	info: [drm] Loading R200 Microcode
	drm0: [MPSAFE]

After installing the graphics/dri-devel, I can get glxinfo to report
'Direct Rendering: Yes' and the glxgears spin pretty fast (without using
CPU).

However, when the first OpenGL program starts, my two Xinerama-joined
displays begin showing the same picture. The picture is that, which is
supposed to be displayed on the left one, which is connected to the
analog connector of the video card. Everything, except the cursor.

The server does not realize this, of course -- when the cursor travels on
the right side, it changes shape and/or color according to the windows,
that are supposed to display there.

You can find the usually requested details at:

	http://aldan.algebra.com:8015/~mi/Xorg.2.log
	http://aldan.algebra.com:8015/~mi/xorg.conf
	http://aldan.algebra.com:8015/~mi/dmesg.boot	(verbose)

Any comments? Thank you very much!

	-mi

Hi, All.

i have some strange problem with xmodmap.
if i configured map somekeys in conf file:

cat .Xmodmap
keycode 174 = XF86AudioLowerVolume
keycode 176 = XF86AudioRaiseVolume

and try load this settings putting string 'xmodmap ~/.Xmodmap' in
file .xinitrc (at homedir) before string startkde nothing happens.

if i execute xmodmap ~/.Xmodmap inside KDE all works fine, but in next KDE
session X11 forget this mapping.
any ideas?
(i read FAQ at http://www.freebsd.org/doc/en_US.ISO8859-1/books/faq/x.html
12.21 section)

The mapping might get reset, especially if you're using KDE's frontend for =
xkb=20
(Regional & Accessibility/Keyboard Layouts). You could try putting the=20
xmodmap command into a shell script, chmod +x that script and put it into=20
~/.kde/Autostart, or try unchecking "Enable keyboard layouts" in the=20
mentioned above kcontrol module.

Thank you.
All works fine, after putting in .kde/Autostart.
P.S. Keyboard Layouts is active.

I presume you mean section 11.23, which deals with assigning the windows ke=
ys.

This is not a FAQ anymore these days either, as modern window managers and=
=20
Desktop Environments come with much easier and more obvious tools than=20
xmodmap to assign the windows keys (or they even have them already assigned=
=20
by default). The FreeBSD FAQ contains many rather outdated answers to=20
not-anymore-frequently-asked questions like that, but so do many FAQ=20
documents which are maintained in an apppend-only mode (and not very=20
regularly).

In any case, "Why does xmodmap not work in KDE?" is not a frequently asked=
=20
question as far as I can tell (and I have been monitoring the relevant=20
mailing lists to base that judgement for quite a while now). :-)
