With freshly cvsupped -current it does not boot with ACPI enabled. I collected some info as mentioned in FreeBSD handbook for ACPI debugging, available at http://www.dino.sk. There are basically two sets of files - 5.5-PRERELEASE with working ACPI and 7.0-CURRENT with broken ACPI. No info is included from 6.x version, however, I did test it once or twice and it fails just like -current. As there are some parts enhanced in -current and TC1000 has better hardware support there I would like to get this corrected, but I am not yet able to do it alone. Your bios is noncompliant with the specs but we have a workaround. Many bios from this era (2001) have a broken SCI override on SMP systems. Here's the section of your APIC table: Type=INT Override BUS=0, IRQ=0, INTR=2 Flags={Polarity=active-hi, Trigger=level} Type=INT Override BUS=0, IRQ=9, INTR=9 Flags={Polarity=active-hi, Trigger=level} There's no such thing as level/high. It probably means level/low instead. Anyway, there's no way for freebsd to know what your bios means by these but we have tunables to override this. Try setting this in /boot/loader.conf: hw.acpi.sci.polarity="low" If that doesn't work, try instead: hw.acpi.sci.trigger="edge" I should ask jhb@ if he'd document this in the acpi(4) manpage and/or handbook. -- Nate From owner-freebsd-acpi@FreeBSD.ORG Fri Mar 10 01:42:46 2006 Return-Path: X-Original-To: freebsd-acpi@freebsd.org Delivered-To: freebsd-acpi@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 6D82016A420 for ; Fri, 10 Mar 2006 01:42:46 +0000 (GMT) (envelope-from abuse@akavia.ru) Received: from smtp.spaceweb.ru (smtp.spaceweb.ru [217.170.76.3]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 7D98A43D5E for ; Fri, 10 Mar 2006 01:42:40 +0000 (GMT) (envelope-from abuse@akavia.ru) Received: from [62.33.174.250] (helo=admin.blg.akavia.ru) by smtp.spaceweb.ru with esmtp (Exim 4.60) (envelope-from ) id 1FHWeN-0000ua-HY for freebsd-acpi@freebsd.org; Fri, 10 Mar 2006 04:42:39 +0300 Date: Fri, 10 Mar 2006 10:42:32 +0900 From: Alexander Logvinov X-Mailer: The Bat! System worked stable. The server configurati= on is: - Intel=AE Server Board SE7520AF2 - 2 x Xeon 3.0Ghz - 3 x disk SCSI used with on-board SCSI Controller(RAID 5 configuration) The problem is that if ACPI is enabled, invoking the commands: reboot, shutdown -r now hangs server after message "Shutting down ACPI". The only way to start server is to press power button. I have upgraded BIOS version for the motherboard and server still hangs. I have searched for some solutions but with no effect. Any help would be appreciated. Bellow is shown dmesg output: Copyright (c) 1992-2005 The FreeBSD Project. The suspend works ok, but after the resume the backlight of the LCD is off. The resume seems to work ok otherwise - the system itself is up and running, it's possible to enter commands on the commandline. I tried to switch back and forth between VTYs and used radeontool to switch the backlight on, but the screen stayed black. Please see the output of dmesg (after boot -v) and "sysctl hw.acpi" below. The output of "acpidump -t -d" may be downloaded from http://khe.v3consulting.com/khe-SamsungX25.asl Recompiling the asl with iasl worked without any errors and warnings. Further infomation about the system: Laptop: Samsung X25 Graphic: ATI Mobility Radeon X600 OS: FreeBSD 6.0 I you need more information, please let me know. Any hints to fix this problem are appreciated very much, because I would love to get the S3 mode working.
