I believe 5.2.1-RELEASE was a developer-preview release, and many things have changed since then. These represent problem reports covering all versions including experimental development code and obsolete releases. Bugs can be in one of several states: o - open A problem report has been submitted, no sanity checking performed. a - analyzed The problem is understood and a solution is being sought. f - feedback Further work requires additional information from the originator or the community - possibly confirmation of the effectiveness of a proposed solution. p - patched A patch has been committed, but some issues (MFC and / or confirmation from originator) are still open. s - suspended The problem is not being worked on, due to lack of information or resources. This is a prime candidate for somebody who is looking for a project to do. If the problem cannot be solved at all, it will be closed, rather than suspended. c - closed A problem report is closed when any changes have been integrated, documented, and tested -- or when fixing the problem is abandoned. Ah. boot -Dh from the boot2 prompt should work fine. At the loader it would probably be best to just do 'set console="comconsole vidconsole"' if you still want the dual consoles up until single user mode. Otherwise, if you just want the serial console, 'set console="comconsole"' is probably best. -- John Baldwin <>< http://www.FreeBSD.org/~jhb/ "Power Users Use the Power to Serve" = http://www.FreeBSD.org From owner-freebsd-doc@FreeBSD.ORG Mon Apr 10 18:50:21 2006 Return-Path: X-Original-To: freebsd-doc@hub.freebsd.org Delivered-To: freebsd-doc@hub.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 8BA2416A474 for ; Mon, 10 Apr 2006 18:50:21 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from gnats@FreeBSD.org) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (freefall.freebsd.org [216.136.204.21]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 23C9043D46 for ; Mon, 10 Apr 2006 18:50:20 +0000 (GMT) (envelope-from gnats@FreeBSD.org) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (gnats@localhost [127.0.0.1]) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.13.4/8.13.4) with ESMTP id k3AIoJox036363 for ; Mon, 10 Apr 2006 18:50:20 GMT (envelope-from gnats@freefall.freebsd.org) Received: (from gnats@localhost) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.13.4/8.13.4/Submit) id k3AIoJNJ036362; Mon, 10 Apr 2006 18:50:19 GMT (envelope-from gnats) Resent-Date: Mon, 10 Apr 2006 18:50:19 GMT Resent-Message-Id: <200604101850.k3AIoJNJ036362@freefall.freebsd.org> Resent-From: FreeBSD-gnats-submit@FreeBSD.org (GNATS Filer) Resent-To: freebsd-doc@FreeBSD.org Resent-Reply-To: FreeBSD-gnats-submit@FreeBSD.org, James Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id BFFB216A403 for ; Mon, 10 Apr 2006 18:45:01 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from nobody@FreeBSD.org) Received: from www.freebsd.org (www.freebsd.org [216.136.204.117]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id C93D843D55 for ; Mon, 10 Apr 2006 18:45:00 +0000 (GMT) (envelope-from nobody@FreeBSD.org) Received: from www.freebsd.org (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by www.freebsd.org (8.13.1/8.13.1) with ESMTP id k3AIj0TS036591 for ; Mon, 10 Apr 2006 18:45:00 GMT (envelope-from nobody@www.freebsd.org) Received: (from nobody@localhost) by www.freebsd.org (8.13.1/8.13.1/Submit) id k3AIj0QK036589; Mon, 10 Apr 2006 18:45:00 GMT (envelope-from nobody) Message-Id: <200604101845.k3AIj0QK036589@www.freebsd.org> Date: Mon, 10 Apr 2006 18:45:00 GMT From: James To: freebsd-gnats-submit@FreeBSD.org X-Send-Pr-Version: www-2.3 Cc: Subject: docs/95601: handbook 17.6 Creating and Using Optical Media (CDs) links 2 http://www.freebsd.dk/ata/ X-BeenThere: freebsd-doc@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: Documentation project List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Mon, 10 Apr 2006 18:50:21 -0000 >Number: 95601 >Category: docs >Synopsis: handbook 17.6 Creating and Using Optical Media (CDs) links 2 http://www.freebsd.dk/ata/ >Confidential: no >Severity: non-critical >Priority: low >Responsible: freebsd-doc >State: open >Quarter: >Keywords: >Date-Required: >Class: sw-bug >Submitter-Id: current-users >Arrival-Date: Mon Apr 10 18:50:19 GMT 2006 >Closed-Date: >Last-Modified: >Originator: James >Release: 6.0 >Organization: >Environment: FreeBSD mygateway1.ar7 6.1-PRERELEASE FreeBSD 6.1-PRERELEASE #0: Sat Feb 18 12:26:02 GMT 2006 james@mygateway1.ar7:/usr/src/sys/i386/compile/MYKERNEL i386 >Description: handbook 17.6 Creating and Using Optical Media (CDs) links 2 http://www.freebsd.dk/ata/ http://www.freebsd.org/doc/en_US.ISO8859-1/books/handbook/creating-cds.html i couldnt find if this has been reported or not >How-To-Repeat: >Fix: >Release-Note: >Audit-Trail: >Unformatted: From owner-freebsd-doc@FreeBSD.ORG Mon Apr 10 21:03:57 2006 Return-Path: X-Original-To: doc@freebsd.org Delivered-To: freebsd-doc@FreeBSD.ORG Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 5040516A403 for ; Mon, 10 Apr 2006 21:03:57 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from aa_Wistar_Info_Sys@mail.wistar.org) Received: from mail.wistar.org (mail.wistar.org [151.197.147.115]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id AC96E43D48 for ; Mon, 10 Apr 2006 21:03:56 +0000 (GMT) (envelope-from aa_Wistar_Info_Sys@mail.wistar.org) Date: Mon, 10 Apr 2006 17:08:44 -0400 Message-Id: <10604101708.AA5539471@mail.wistar.org> Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii From: "aa_Wistar_Info_Sys" To: X-Mailer: Precedence: bulk Cc: Subject: automated response X-BeenThere: freebsd-doc@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Reply-To: aa_Wistar_Info_Sys@mail.wistar.org List-Id: Documentation project List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Mon, 10 Apr 2006 21:03:57 -0000 Please rename your file attachment so the letters "zip" do not appear anywhere in the new name. Can you put this solution in Handbook? (My english is poor) The simplicity is base on another a little FreeBSD instaled on other HD, in our case we are using a boot from network for diskless. After installed all system on frist HD (ex.: /dev/ad4), partitioned how you like, we can boot from a little (temporary) FreeBSD system installed on /dev/ad0 (in our case we are booting from network). Using this little system we can create a mirror device, using information from main HD, /dev/ad4: gmirror label -vnb round-robin gm0 /dev/ad4 gmirror load Now, we can add a second HD for this mirror (same size), in this case /dev/ad6, all partitions will be mirroed and you don't have to use dump and restore, which is hard work for several partiotions and labels: gmirror configure -a gm0 gmirror insert gm0 /dev/ad6 Now, this mirror is running and we can edit the main fstab and to configure this system to work correctly: mount /dev/mirror/gm0s1a /mnt echo 'geom_mirror_load="YES"' >> /mnt/boot/loader.conf vi /mnt/etc/fstab (change /dev/ad4 to /dev/mirror/gm0 in all lines) Now we can boot normaly in main system /dev/ad4 and using mirror system, in our case: $ df -h Filesystem Size Used Avail Capacity Mounted on /dev/mirror/gm0s1a 243M 60M 163M 27% / devfs 1.0K 1.0K 0B 100% /dev /dev/mirror/gm0s3h 134G 682K 124G 0% /home /dev/mirror/gm0s2d 248M 12K 228M 0% /tmp /dev/mirror/gm0s2f 2.9G 1.8G 929M 66% /usr /dev/mirror/gm0s2g 2.2G 108M 1.9G 5% /usr/local /dev/mirror/gm0s2e 496M 194K 456M 0% /var /dev/mirror/gm0s3f 496M 4.0K 456M 0% /var/amavis /dev/mirror/gm0s3g 496M 1.6M 454M 0% /var/db /dev/mirror/gm0s3d 496M 1.8M 454M 0% /var/qmail /dev/mirror/gm0s3e 496M 4.0K 456M 0% /var/virusmails and $ gmirror list Geom name: gm0 State: DEGRADED Components: 2 Balance: round-robin Slice: 4096 Flags: NONE GenID: 0 SyncID: 1 ID: 4081910748 Providers: 1. Really helpfull stuff. I implemented the NAT-ed statefull ruleset (the last example) and found a bug I believe. The offending line: # Allow out access to my ISP's Domain name server. # x.x.x.x must be the IP address of your ISP's DNS # Dup these lines if your ISP has more than one DNS server # Get the IP addresses from /etc/resolv.conf file $cmd 020 $skip tcp from any to x.x.x.x 53 out via $pif setup keep-state the TCP part should be UDP I believe. In some previous sections it seemed it listed both TCP and UDP rules for DNS, but I believe that DNS only uses TCP. Also, is this a bit logically inconsistent? (Very last line) # This is skipto location for outbound stateful rules $cmd 800 divert natd ip from any to any out via $pif $cmd 801 allow ip from any to any # Everything else is denied by default # deny and log all packets that fell through to see what they are $cmd 999 deny log all from any to any Isn't it impossible for anything to get past rule 801? Doesn't it essentially make it a default allow-all policy? If i'm not mistaken shouldn't rule 999 be moved and changed to 799? Thanks again for all this. The handbook is truly an invaluable resource.
