Still need to rebuild my ports for -CURRENT. When I run /compat/linux/usr/bin/wineprefixcreate it never returned from running /compat/linux/usr/bin/wine rundll32.exe setupapi.dll,InstallHinfSection DefaultInstall 28 wine.inf (left it running for several hours). A ps -axwwww shows: 1266 v0 I+ /compat/linux/usr/bin/wine rundll32.exe setupapi.dll,InstallHinfSection DefaultInstall 128 wine.inf Tried to use 'ktrace -p 1266', but the ktrace.out file remained at zero bytes. The previous errors/warnings are gone with the -CURRENT linuxator. Found out I need to add 'COPTFLAGS=-O2 -frename-registers -pipe -DDEBUG' to /etc/src.conf as it didn't read the value from /etc/make.conf on -CURRENT. Did have one probelm with this patch, in that it wouldn't allow a buildworld to complete, errored out in usr.sbin/ipcs. See you have a new patch, will give that a try. Can I use existing Windows installation with some of the existing "emulation" software ?? I would appreciate any suggestions, experiences, how-to's, links, etc. Many thanks! Do I need to update in order for this to work? Or is this a wine-related bug that isn't resolved yet? I seem to recall the same problems with the versions from the first half of 2005. We need No error but some details : Maple run until version 9.5. A tip : If you want the maple launch more quickly you can type xmaple -cw but this is independant of FreeBSD. On FreeBSD with this option it's more stable (because it's old interface, not the new one write on Java). With Maple 10 the software don't work. The interface can be launch but the kernel (of maple) don't run. For Matlab. With the new emulation (since 6.x I think) there not need to use FreeBSD native JDK. The emulation mode work fine. It's same thing for matlab shutdown. The not need anymore. One tip : For launch script I use #!/bin/sh /compat/linux/bin/sh /usr/local/matlab/bin/matlab -arch=glnx86 > /dev/null 2>&1 The last version work fine. One thing very strange, but I don't known if the problem is with matlab, FreeBSD, Linux-Emulation, but if I make a KDE icon on KDE with matlab it's don't work. When we click on this icon we got the splashscreen, after some time the splashscreen gone...and matlab too. If you launch Matlab on shell everthing work fine. > the feedback from user like you to maintain these sections. HTH. Sorry my english is very bad I can't help you to modify the web page. In many cases these ports are failing to compile on some subset of the FreeBSD build environments. The most common problem is that recent versions of -CURRENT include gcc3.4, which is much stricter about such things as function declarations, literal strings constants that continue over several physical lines, and forcing the deprecation of antique header files such as varargs.h (we should now be using stdargs.h). The next most common problem is that compiles succeed on the i386 architecture (e.g. the common Intel PC), but fail on one or more of the other architectures due to assumptions about things such as size of various types, byte-alignment issues, and so forth. In occasional cases we see that the same port may have different errors in different build environments. The script that runs on the build cluster uses heuristics to try to 'guess' the error type to help you isolate problems, but it is only a rough guide. If you need help in one or more build environments that you do not have access to, please ask for help on the freebsd-ports mailing list. One more note: on occasion, there are transient build errors seen on the build farm. Unfortunately, there is not yet any way for this algorithm to tell the difference (humans are much, much better at this kind of thing.) The errors are listed below. In the case where the same problem exists on more than one build environment, the URL points to the latest errorlog for that type. (By 'build environment' here we mean 'combination of 4.x/5.x/6.x with target architecture'.) (Note: the dates are included to help you to gauge whether or not the error still applies to the latest version. The program that generates this report is not yet able to determine this automatically.) portname: emulators/vmware2 broken because: Unfetchable build errors: none. overview: http://portsmon.FreeBSD.org/portoverview.py?category=emulators&portname=vmware2 If these errors are ones that you are already aware of, please accept our apologies and ignore this message. On the other hand, if you no longer wish to maintain this port (or ports), please reply with a message stating that, and accept our thanks for your efforts in the past. Every effort has been made to make sure that these error reports really do correspond to a port that you maintain. However, due to the fact that this is an automated process, it may indeed generate false matches. If one of these errors fits that description, please forward this email to the author of this software, Mark Linimon , so that he can attempt to fix the problem in the future. Thanks for your efforts to help improve FreeBSD. This does not work. It appears (from the bugreports I read) that win98-mode is virtually impossible as soon as an app requires systemheap. Furthermore, some applications (including IE and dependencies) won't work in win2k or winxp mode too. This is FreeBSD specific. This means that for a lot of uses, wine is virutally useless on FreeBSD now (I think, but haven't tried, that this prevents Office from working too). See: http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=5732 And: http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/query-pr.cgi?pr=73092 (last two comments) Some more output: err:heap:HEAP_GetPtr Invalid heap 0x0! (multiples) Is there anything I can do? Should there some bugreport be filed or whatever? I would be glad to help this get fixed, but my C++-skills are below zero. -- Frans-Jan v.
