No, you can use packages to upgrade. However, the adm64 server is currently down. In general, the following will work, though: env PACKAGESITE=3Dhttp://www.marcuscom.com/tb/packages-i386/6.1-MarcusCom/Lates= t/ pkg_add -r gnome2 This would be for a new install. For upgrades, you will set PACKAGESITE accordingly, then use portupgrade -P. The plug-in provides CPU clock speed and the rest (and a lot more) are standard parts of gkrellm. Other plug-ins for gkrellm can provide lots of added functions. While you don't explicitly state it, I am guessing that you are trying to sync calendars. gnome-pilot used to contain a calendar conduit, but it appears to have been removed a long time ago. (It was dropped from the CVS back in 1999.) The conduit had serious problems. Mostly that after syncing, the PDA would suddenly have double entries for every event. The old conduit had serious problems. I'd love to find one. I haven't played with gnome-pilot and evolution in a while. I've been using Jpilot with my Treo 600. I did have the two setup and I vaguely remember dealing with and developing a workaround for the issues with the Calendar. I'll redo that research later. Kiffen, exactly what problems are you having. I have all of these extensions built in X11 (Xorg). Previous attempts to make use of these extensions in Metacity & Gnome failed because Metacity & Gnome didn't/ don't enable or search for them by default. So I have added the enable switches in the top level makefile (x11-wm/metacity/Makefile) to ensure it picks them up. However, ./configure fails after testing and enabling them because cm.pc can't be found (in pkgconfig/). After using a find/ grep in the ports tree for cm.pc and it returning nothing. And after using gnomelogalizer.sh it could not resolve the issue and instructed me to point my experience here to possibly find a solution. I have attached the gnomelogalizer.sh optput (metacity.log) I have also attached the full output from ./config (config.log) and last, but not least, the Makefile in it's current incarnation. This is done via the Preferred Applications capplet, or directly using GConf under /desktop/url-handlers/http. To clarify: When I tried out 2.14 while the ports tree was still frozen for 6.1-RELEASE, I had to fiddle about on my own with avahi / howl. When the release was integrated back into the FreeBSD ports tree, there was a lovely little note added to ports/UPDATING about it. Did such a note exist somewhere (e.g., marcuscom.com) before the merge, and if so, is there a similar note (in beta form, presumably) for 2.16? Thanks all! It's in /etc, and the url-handler directory is buried way down. But editing both http and https worked. It was *not* pointing at firefox, but somewhere godknows [or doesn't!]. Nutshell, the mouse-click on URL brings up the broswer. I used find / here and discovered a ~/.gconf/desktop/.....url-hanflers. I had used the gconf-editor but it had put in /usr/X11R6/lib/firefox/firefox " %s " rather than the ...firefox-bin "%s" in the surrounding XML. I edited it to firefox-bin "%s". No joy. My find / discovered system-wide gnome directories in /usr/X11R6/, and that's where I'll poke around next. It's been educational and I'm beginning to appreciate the logic of how things-Gome fit together. gary > - -- > Joe Marcus Clarke > FreeBSD GNOME Team :: gnome@FreeBSD.org > FreeNode / #freebsd-gnome > http://www.FreeBSD.org/gnome > -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- > Version: GnuPG v1.4.5 (Darwin) > Comment: Using GnuPG with Mozilla - http://enigmail.mozdev.org > > iD8DBQFE43Pfb2iPiv4Uz4cRAvF/AKClGSAIDcb1Ku+NC4na44p2ftzCuACeNgHU > MFwoSpzr4Y1QglEx/OeT7gg= > =sqqw > -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- -- Gary Kline kline@thought.org www.thought.org Public service Unix From owner-freebsd-gnome@FreeBSD.ORG Thu Aug 17 12:13:49 2006 Return-Path: X-Original-To: freebsd-gnome@FreeBSD.org Delivered-To: freebsd-gnome@FreeBSD.org Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id C77E416A4DD for ; Thu, 17 Aug 2006 12:13:49 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from kiesel@schlund.de) Received: from mxintern.schlund.de (mxintern.kundenserver.de [212.227.126.204]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 1E02543D49 for ; Thu, 17 Aug 2006 12:13:48 +0000 (GMT) (envelope-from kiesel@schlund.de) Received: from [172.17.29.6] (helo=lost.i.schlund.de) by mxintern.kundenserver.de with smtp (Exim 4.34) id 1GDgkt-0001h3-AO for freebsd-gnome@FreeBSD.org; Thu, 17 Aug 2006 14:13:47 +0200 Received: (qmail 54091 invoked by uid 519); 17 Aug 2006 12:13:46 -0000 From: Alex Kiesel To: freebsd-gnome@FreeBSD.org Content-Type: multipart/signed; micalg=pgp-sha1; protocol="application/pgp-signature"; boundary="=-C4TK5nEReBmlOTinbObT" Date: Thu, 17 Aug 2006 14:13:45 +0200 Message-Id: <1155816826.51531.7.camel@lost.i.schlund.de> Mime-Version: 1.0 X-Mailer: Evolution 2.6.3 FreeBSD GNOME Team Port X-Virus-Scanned: Symantec AntiVirus Scan Engine Cc: Subject: Drop maintainership of evolution-exchange X-BeenThere: freebsd-gnome@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: GNOME for FreeBSD -- porting and maintaining List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Thu, 17 Aug 2006 12:13:49 -0000 --=-C4TK5nEReBmlOTinbObT Content-Type: text/plain Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable Hi, I'm currently registered as maintainer of the mail/evolution-exchange port. This is highly annoying... I don't believe that this is a hardware problem because I have the -exact- same problem with another system. I have tried - rebuilding everything - remove all ~/.gconf* and ~/.gnome* directories - removing everything in /var/tmp and /tmp and I still have problems with gconfd-2. Very discouraging after -years- of mostly good stuff going on. I did upgrade this system from gnome 2.12 (and so on, from previous systems). Anything I can do that might help? Any files that I should nuke??? The only 'funny' thing I might be doing is I have WITH_OPTIMIZED_CFLAGS=yes CPUTYPE=athlon64 set in /etc/make.conf, but that's only for one system, the other doesn't have these options set. - Mike H.
