Instead of this: (see attached black_star.png), it is displayed like this: (see attached star-bad.gif). However it is displayed correctly with linux-firefox and linux-opera. I have to say that before this (make world) the character was displayed correctly. The Linux emulation is linux_base-fc4. Firefox and all the other software is built from the latest port collection available with default confiuration options. If rhythmbox is running in the background, sound in the game is lagged by about 1-2 seconds (i.e.. shoot, enemy dies, then hear gun firing). This does not happen with other media players (xmms, moc, mpg123 tested). Why does rhythmbox have that effect? I'm using the OSS sink. At anyrate it seems as though this port requires .so.8 which I guess is the older version. I tried to fake the old version by simlinking the .so.9 to .so.8 and things worked for a while but the evolution-plugin finally failed with link errors. I could get you the exact errors if need be, but unfortunately I am now stuck in windows because I cannot finish gnomes build. I guess I can turn off the palm conduit but I do have a palm and would like to use it. its a Treo 650 which may not even be supported... if it isn't I will turn off the option to include palm support but I thought you should know about the new palm-link. It was committed on the 23 of sept. -brian From owner-freebsd-gnome@FreeBSD.ORG Mon Sep 25 02:45:08 2006 Return-Path: X-Original-To: gnome@freebsd.org Delivered-To: freebsd-gnome@FreeBSD.ORG Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 5011F16A403 for ; Mon, 25 Sep 2006 02:45:08 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from mezz7@cox.net) Received: from eastrmmtao03.cox.net (eastrmmtao03.cox.net [68.230.240.36]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 5482E43D49 for ; Mon, 25 Sep 2006 02:45:07 +0000 (GMT) (envelope-from mezz7@cox.net) Received: from eastrmimpo01.cox.net ([68.1.16.119]) by eastrmmtao03.cox.net (InterMail vM.6.01.06.01 201-2131-130-101-20060113) with ESMTP id <20060925024506.ORYW23863.eastrmmtao03.cox.net@eastrmimpo01.cox.net>; Sun, 24 Sep 2006 22:45:06 -0400 Received: from mezz.mezzweb.com ([24.255.149.218]) by eastrmimpo01.cox.net with bizsmtp id SSl31V00a4iy4EG0000000 Sun, 24 Sep 2006 22:45:04 -0400 Date: Sun, 24 Sep 2006 21:46:01 -0500 To: "Chris Whitehouse" From: "Jeremy Messenger" Content-Type: text/plain; format=flowed; delsp=yes; charset=us-ascii MIME-Version: 1.0 References: <4516ED94.4000704@childeric.freeserve.co.uk> Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Message-ID: In-Reply-To: <4516ED94.4000704@childeric.freeserve.co.uk> User-Agent: Opera Mail/9.02 (Linux) Cc: gnome@freebsd.org Subject: Re: nvu css editor X-BeenThere: freebsd-gnome@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: GNOME for FreeBSD -- porting and maintaining List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Mon, 25 Sep 2006 02:45:08 -0000 On Sun, 24 Sep 2006 15:41:56 -0500, Chris Whitehouse wrote: > Hi, > > any plans for incorporating the CSS editor in nvu? This is with both freebsd and marcuscom gnome (both updated within the last week) on two separate 6-stable boxes. Both have an emu10k1 card on an intel based motherboard, and both are plenty fast. I can't imagine what would delay a sound that is directly using the oss driver more than a sound that goes through esound first. Any ideas? I'd rather not run esound. Recently, I have helped a friend add Gnome 2.14.3 to a FreeBSD 6.1 box of unknown history. The Gnome install went fine, as did the sound and nVidia drivers (we wiped out all the installed ports first to clean it up a bit). The odd thing is that we are unable to start Gnome using .xinitrc with the same file that works for me: it just starts the standard X desktop Putting the gdm flag into rc.conf starts Gnome. Paths and permissions all seem correct. I can speculate as to what might be set incorrectly, but I thought I would ask here first. Any suggestions would be most appreciated. In a move that I can only describe as stupid and selfish I didn't share the solution. My bad. All the justice hounds out there can take joy from the fact that I just spent an hour recreating it. The problem is with the .mozconfig script. It has two entries for setting the extensions used for the nvu build. The first one enables cascades, the nvu css editor. The second one resets the extension list back to the default. This patch comments out the second entry and you get a FreeBSD native nvu with the cascades css editor: --- work/mozilla/.mozconfig.orig Fri Sep 29 12:41:03 2006 +++ work/mozilla/.mozconfig Fri Sep 29 12:47:47 2006 @@ -92,7 +92,7 @@ ac_add_options --with-pthreads ac_add_options --x-includes=/usr/X11R6/include ac_add_options --x-libraries=/usr/X11R6/lib -ac_add_options --enable-extensions=default +# ac_add_options --enable-extensions=default ac_add_options --enable-image-decoders=default ac_add_options --enable-necko-protocols=default ac_add_options --with-system-jpeg=/usr/local Please take note that the mozilla build system is complex and I certainly am no expert. I have verified that this patch at least configures nvu to build with cascades. It'll take the port about 25min to finish building here and I'll post a followup when I'm done. I personally think that this is probably a bug and thus submitting a PR is appropriate. The problem appears to be that the port specifies a mozconfig script: PORT_MOZCONFIG= ${WRKSRC}/composer/config/mozconfig.linux but the Build process ignores it choosing to use: ${WRKSRC}/.mozconfig instead Cheers. As I said I will test the newly built nvu for the presence of CaScadeS and post a followup. -- Chris From owner-freebsd-gnome@FreeBSD.ORG Fri Sep 29 17:43:59 2006 Return-Path: X-Original-To: gnome@freebsd.org Delivered-To: freebsd-gnome@FreeBSD.ORG Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 675E916A416 for ; Fri, 29 Sep 2006 17:43:59 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from chris@vindaloo.com) Received: from corellia.vindaloo.com (corellia.vindaloo.com [64.51.148.100]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 31B2A43D5D for ; Fri, 29 Sep 2006 17:43:52 +0000 (GMT) (envelope-from chris@vindaloo.com) Received: from yavin.vindaloo.com (yavin.vindaloo.com [172.24.144.34]) by corellia.vindaloo.com (Postfix) with ESMTP id 4C7AF5C88; Fri, 29 Sep 2006 13:56:45 -0400 (EDT) Received: from dagobah.vindaloo.com (dagobah.vindaloo.com [172.24.145.68]) by yavin.vindaloo.com (Postfix) with ESMTP id E96EB253AA; Fri, 29 Sep 2006 13:43:51 -0400 (EDT) Received: from localhost.vindaloo.com (localhost.vindaloo.com [IPv6:::1]) by dagobah.vindaloo.com (8.13.8/8.13.8) with ESMTP id k8THha9Q078000; Fri, 29 Sep 2006 13:43:36 -0400 (EDT) (envelope-from chris@vindaloo.com) From: Christopher Sean Hilton To: Chris Whitehouse In-Reply-To: <1159549176.1006.19.camel@dagobah.vindaloo.com> References: <4516ED94.4000704@childeric.freeserve.co.uk> <1159155010.1139.4.camel@localhost> <451854E6.4090602@childeric.freeserve.co.uk> <1159549176.1006.19.camel@dagobah.vindaloo.com> Content-Type: text/plain Date: Fri, 29 Sep 2006 13:43:35 -0400 Message-Id: <1159551815.1006.52.camel@dagobah.vindaloo.com> Mime-Version: 1.0 X-Mailer: Evolution 2.6.2 FreeBSD GNOME Team Port Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Cc: gnome@freebsd.org, Tom McLaughlin Subject: Re: nvu css editor X-BeenThere: freebsd-gnome@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: GNOME for FreeBSD -- porting and maintaining List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Fri, 29 Sep 2006 17:43:59 -0000 On Fri, 2006-09-29 at 12:59 -0400, Christopher Sean Hilton wrote: > Cheers. Save the patch somewhere. I suggest: /root/nvu-cascades.patch 2. Extract and apply FreeBSD patches to the nvu source: # cd /usr/ports/www/nvu # make patch 3. Apply my patch: # patch < /root/nvu-cascades.patch 4. Assuming the patch applied successfully, there's one hunk at around line 92. 5. Build and install: # make && make deinstall # make install 6. In many cases these ports are failing to compile on some subset of the FreeBSD build environments. The most common problem is that recent versions of -CURRENT include gcc3.4, which is much stricter about such things as function declarations, literal strings constants that continue over several physical lines, and forcing the deprecation of antique header files such as varargs.h (we should now be using stdargs.h). The next most common problem is that compiles succeed on the i386 architecture (e.g. the common Intel PC), but fail on one or more of the other architectures due to assumptions about things such as size of various types, byte-alignment issues, and so forth. In occasional cases we see that the same port may have different errors in different build environments. The script that runs on the build cluster uses heuristics to try to 'guess' the error type to help you isolate problems, but it is only a rough guide. If you need help in one or more build environments that you do not have access to, please ask for help on the freebsd-ports mailing list. One more note: on occasion, there are transient build errors seen on the build farm. Unfortunately, there is not yet any way for this algorithm to tell the difference (humans are much, much better at this kind of thing.) The errors are listed below. In the case where the same problem exists on more than one build environment, the URL points to the latest errorlog for that type. (By 'build environment' here we mean 'combination of 4.x/5.x/6.x with target architecture'.) (Note: the dates are included to help you to gauge whether or not the error still applies to the latest version. The program that generates this report is not yet able to determine this automatically.) portname: databases/mergeant broken because: does not build with new libgnomedb build errors: http://pointyhat.FreeBSD.org/errorlogs/amd64-errorlogs/e.6.2006092420/mergeant-0.62_2.log (Sep 28 22:32:32 UTC 2006) overview: http://portsmon.FreeBSD.org/portoverview.py?category=databases&portname=mergeant If these errors are ones that you are already aware of, please accept our apologies and ignore this message. On the other hand, if you no longer wish to maintain this port (or ports), please reply with a message stating that, and accept our thanks for your efforts in the past. Every effort has been made to make sure that these error reports really do correspond to a port that you maintain. However, due to the fact that this is an automated process, it may indeed generate false matches. If one of these errors fits that description, please forward this email to the author of this software, Mark Linimon , so that he can attempt to fix the problem in the future. I tried it out last night (I managed to dig up an old PS6 CD) it actually works quite well!.. Pretty much every filter I tried worked without a single hitch. I'm on current at the moment and I can build binaries for 4,5,7 (no 6 but i'm sure I could borrow someone's machine for a few mins to handle this) When I eventually find time I'll make a port for it that will install the binary versions later on at some point I'll add an option to build from source if people have the PS6 SDK. I'm not sure how feasible distributing a binary version would be (yet), since: verm@peach# LD_LIBRARY_PATH=. ldd pspi.exe.so |wc -l 38 May cause a lot of issues, it just requires wine+gimp, however I havn't tried to see how portible it is between versions of the gimp.
