Did you use the Windows XP driver from the supplied CD? I had had problems with all drivers except the Windows XP driver. I run FreeBSD 6.0-RELEASE and did noticed any problem with unstable connection. I think the unstable connection may have following reason: You did not used the Windows XP driver for the conversion As for the connection speed I suggest you to check this: a) Configuration of the pf. Checker whether traffic shapping at your pf configuration is enabled. b)Check the configuration of your AP If it is possible I will suggest you to try the WLAN connection under Windows in order to determine that your hardware (card + AP) works correctly. If it works ok, I will suggest you to disable the firewall and try to establish a connection without the firewall. It's just that the ata driver doesn't know how to read the RAID format of your BIOS. It still works the same. You do realize that it's up to the driver to actually do the RAID right? Either BIOS or atacontrol RAID is still "pseudoRAID". This isn't hardware RAID, this is cheap software raid implemented in hardware. Search around, this topic has been convered extensively. -- Jo Rhett senior geek SVcolo : Silicon Valley Colocation From owner-freebsd-hardware@FreeBSD.ORG Thu Jan 12 08:16:44 2006 Return-Path: X-Original-To: freebsd-hardware@freebsd.org Delivered-To: freebsd-hardware@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id CF5EE16A420 for ; Thu, 12 Jan 2006 08:16:44 +0000 (GMT) (envelope-from jrhett@mail.meer.net) Received: from outbound0.sv.meer.net (outbound0.sv.meer.net [205.217.152.13]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 922F143D6A for ; Thu, 12 Jan 2006 08:16:41 +0000 (GMT) (envelope-from jrhett@mail.meer.net) Received: from mail.meer.net (mail.meer.net [209.157.152.14]) by outbound0.sv.meer.net (8.12.10/8.12.6) with ESMTP id k0C8Fk29017037; Thu, 12 Jan 2006 00:16:41 -0800 (PST) (envelope-from jrhett@mail.meer.net) Received: from mail.meer.net (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by mail.meer.net (8.13.3/8.13.3/meer) with ESMTP id k0C8EWB2014811; Thu, 12 Jan 2006 00:14:32 -0800 (PST) (envelope-from jrhett@mail.meer.net) Received: (from jrhett@localhost) by mail.meer.net (8.13.3/8.13.3) id k0C8EWKa014809; Thu, 12 Jan 2006 00:14:32 -0800 (PST) (envelope-from jrhett) Date: Thu, 12 Jan 2006 00:14:32 -0800 From: Jo Rhett To: Michael Lednev Message-ID: <20060112081432.GK84964@svcolo.com> References: <20060112063340.GA84964@svcolo.com> Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Disposition: inline In-Reply-To: Organization: svcolo.com User-Agent: Mutt/1.5.9i Cc: freebsd-hardware@freebsd.org Subject: Re: gvinum in 6.0-rel -- how to attach plexes? I'm fairly certain that doing re-running the identical set of gvinum create commands, if done with care will result in updating the meta-data while preserving the actual data assuming your talking about RAID 0, 1, or 0+1/1+0. -- Brooks --=20 Any statement of the form "X is the one, true Y" is FALSE.
