We have a /19 address that we announce to 3 ISP's. We have balanced the traffic using local preference and the MED, which works just fine us. Although we would also like certain subnets within the /19 say a /28 to only use one specific ISP because of sensitive latency issues.=20 Can anyone tell me if this is possible and if you can give me an example of how the route-map would look like I would really appreciate it. You can ask all three of your ISPs whether they and their peering partners would agree to carry that /28 route if you announce it, but it's unlikely that all or even many of the peers will be willing to do so. -- -Chuck From owner-freebsd-isp@FreeBSD.ORG Thu Nov 2 21:38:37 2006 Return-Path: X-Original-To: freebsd-isp@freebsd.org Delivered-To: freebsd-isp@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 0549D16A407 for ; Thu, 2 Nov 2006 21:38:37 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from charles@hatvany.com) Received: from forty.hatvany.com (forty.hatvany.com [66.203.80.230]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 2BFFC43D5C for ; Thu, 2 Nov 2006 21:38:35 +0000 (GMT) (envelope-from charles@hatvany.com) Received: from [127.0.0.1] ([10.0.0.2]) by forty.hatvany.com (8.12.8p1/8.12.8) with ESMTP id kA2LcXjG096145 for ; Thu, 2 Nov 2006 16:38:34 -0500 (EST) (envelope-from charles@hatvany.com) Message-ID: <454A6722.5000200@hatvany.com> Date: Thu, 02 Nov 2006 16:46:10 -0500 From: Charles Hatvany User-Agent: Thunderbird 1.5.0.7 (Windows/20060909) MIME-Version: 1.0 To: freebsd-isp@freebsd.org References: In-Reply-To: Content-Type: multipart/mixed; boundary="------------050409080701080809000808" X-Content-Filtered-By: Mailman/MimeDel 2.1.5 Subject: Managing mail accounts via control panel X-BeenThere: freebsd-isp@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: Internet Services Providers List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Thu, 02 Nov 2006 21:38:37 -0000 This is a multi-part message in MIME format. --------------050409080701080809000808 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1; format=flowed Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Hi, Would love to hear from anyone with good experience with a web based control panel for managing mail accounts. Get nice graphs of quota usage, can create accounts, set permissions, delete accounts, create shared folders, etc. Only thing we don't use it for is setting/changing passwords (that's handled via LDAP). -- Freddie Cash fcash@ocis.net From owner-freebsd-isp@FreeBSD.ORG Thu Nov 2 22:39:00 2006 Return-Path: X-Original-To: freebsd-isp@freebsd.org Delivered-To: freebsd-isp@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 863B916A415 for ; Thu, 2 Nov 2006 22:39:00 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from nikola@vlaeonline.com) Received: from munem.it-box.org (munem.it-box.org [67.159.30.92]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 0B24C43D6D for ; Thu, 2 Nov 2006 22:38:59 +0000 (GMT) (envelope-from nikola@vlaeonline.com) Received: from Nikola (unknown [85.30.90.201]) by munem.it-box.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 7CC1F1BFB8002; Thu, 2 Nov 2006 17:34:01 -0500 (EST) Message-ID: <003101c6fecf$accded60$02170a0a@Nikola> From: "Nikola Stojanoski" To: "Charles Hatvany" , References: <454A6722.5000200@hatvany.com> Date: Thu, 2 Nov 2006 23:38:45 +0100 MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; format=flowed; charset="iso-8859-1"; reply-type=original Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit X-Priority: 3 X-MSMail-Priority: Normal X-Mailer: Microsoft Outlook Express 6.00.2900.2869 X-MimeOLE: Produced By Microsoft MimeOLE V6.00.2900.2962 Cc: Subject: Re: Managing mail accounts via control panel X-BeenThere: freebsd-isp@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: Internet Services Providers List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Thu, 02 Nov 2006 22:39:00 -0000 you can use postfix admin it's located in /usr/ports/mail/postfixadmin and here is the web page http://high5.net/postfixadmin/ Postfix Admin supports: - Virtual Mailboxes / Virtual Aliases / Forwarders. - Domain to Domain forwarding / Catch-All. - Vacation (auto-response) for Virtual Mailboxes. - Quota / Alias & Mailbox limits per domain. - Backup MX. - Packaged with over 25 languages Requirements: - Postfix 2.0 or higher. - Apache 1.3.27 or higher. - PHP 4.1 or higher. - MySQL 3.23.xx or higher. SurgeMail http://www.netwinsite.com/surgemail/ even though its a licensed product it is very reasonable in cost for the amount of users it supports. I am currently migrating to this from a fbsd box with the whole postfix/courier/mysql setup described earlier in the thread. This just drops in as a whole mta, with shared calendars and the users control their own rbl/greylisting/etc. It is sick! Especially if you are a provider who is charging for service, it is worth paying for. Mainly because none do a good job of managing multiple services on multiple servers. Also, some config options are stored in text files not a db. That's another area I found lacking. Finally, I use the Courier MTA, not postfix. Most free software panels assume Postfix. Finally, I'm a little paranoid about security. So I'm writing one [1]. My approach is to use key-based SSH to talk to other servers. I may even write a special shell to further restrict what the panel user can do (ala git-shell) on the remote box. The fascgi panel app runs in a chroot jail. Using C and multi-threaded fastcgi (mainly for fun, I know it's overkill--cgi would probably work just fine). I'm hoping to do very little templating/layout on the server and stuff the UI into javascript. Haven't got that far yet. Most of customers want logs and email mods. Phpmyadmin does a fine job of satisfying the demand for db gui (seems like that's what everyone expects anyway). What tasks do your users want? By the way, given how much free software ISP's use, it's surprising to me there's not a good free panel yet. m [1] http://freedom.gaiahost.coop/cgi-bin/gitweb.cgi?p=panel;a=summary From owner-freebsd-isp@FreeBSD.ORG Sat Nov 4 05:34:12 2006 Return-Path: X-Original-To: freebsd-isp@freebsd.org Delivered-To: freebsd-isp@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 7530C16A412 for ; Sat, 4 Nov 2006 05:34:12 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from phocking@no-wire.net) Received: from mail.no-wire.net (www.no-wire.net [65.39.221.45]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 182A843D53 for ; Sat, 4 Nov 2006 05:34:11 +0000 (GMT) (envelope-from phocking@no-wire.net) Received: from mail.no-wire.net (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by mail.no-wire.net (Postfix) with ESMTP id 411695C58 for ; Fri, 3 Nov 2006 12:27:46 -0800 (PST) Received: from [192.168.1.103] (c-71-195-117-76.hsd1.ca.comcast.net [71.195.117.76]) by mail.no-wire.net (Postfix) with ESMTP id 1E10A5C2E for ; Fri, 3 Nov 2006 12:27:46 -0800 (PST) Message-ID: <454BA4EE.30700@no-wire.net> Date: Fri, 03 Nov 2006 12:22:06 -0800 From: Phill Hocking User-Agent: Thunderbird 1.5 (Macintosh/20051201) MIME-Version: 1.0 To: freebsd-isp@freebsd.org References: <7E467F0552BAF6DF353B4B8C@ganymede.hub.org> In-Reply-To: <7E467F0552BAF6DF353B4B8C@ganymede.hub.org> Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1; format=flowed Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Subject: Re: Good OSS Control Panel ala CPanel ...
