I installed gnome2-2.16.3 and gnome-mount-0.4_2, hal-0.5.8.20070210. All device and media mounting but not without errors. But most of the errors I wonder conversion of charset. Earlier fstab file, I have the following lines: /dev/acd0 /cdrom cd9660 ro,noauto,-CKOI8-R 0 0 /dev/ad2s1 /dos ntfs ro,noauto,-CKOI8-R 0 0 /dev/fd0 /floppy msdosfs rw,noauto,-DCP866,-Lru_RU.KOI8-R 0 0 What can i do to convert charset now? I have been told that the 0.5 version of this issue has been resolved. Once it is ported? P.S. Floppy disk is not mounted. --- Sincerely, Eugene Nujdin. There is a mistake in the Makefile which causes install to fail all times. gw-gnc.0 is a part of gnucash plist. In the make file, it is from g-wrap. Take a look at the command below. The attached patch to fix this problem. However, there are 2 problmes: 1. I do not know what is expected from g-wrap. In another word, I do not know if g-wrap is a LIB_DEPNEDS for gnucash. Please, fix it appropreately. 2. The build fails in the middle. I am not sure if it is because of my environment or something else. I temporary commented out the line with the problem to verify my patch. At least, there was only one build error I saw of. I will spend a bit more time and see what I can find. Do you know about rc(8)? If no, then you should read it. # /usr/local/etc/rc.d/hald Usage: /usr/local/etc/rc.d/hald [fast|force|one](start|stop|restart|rcvar|status|poll) # /usr/local/etc/rc.d/hald status hald is running as pid 56146. I think, you might have to exit desktop before try to restart it. Or maybe just restart desktop or maybe none of either. The problem is that "gtk_html_print" is renamed to "gtk_html_print_page"; refere to http://svn.gnome.org/viewcvs/gtkhtml/trunk/src/gtkhtml.h?r1=8386&r2=5139. There are a couple other changes to FreeBSD ports. I attached a new diff to the marcus's CVS. 1. As I first attempt was to see if the bug #2 was fixed in earlier version, I updated to version 2.0.5. 2. Bzip2 was available so I chagned. 3. I also fixed dependecies; USE_GNOME arguments and RUN_DEPENDS. Regards, Hiro P.S. I believe these fixes contains useful information for gnucash development team and ccing as well. Could you please visit http://people.freebsd.org/~fenner/portsurvey/gnome@freebsd.org.html and correct the problems listed there? The individual ports with problems are deskutils/gnome-menu-editor,graphics/gtkcairo. If you have already corrected the problems and submitted a PR, please accept my thanks and apologies for the delay in getting the fixes into the tree. This reminder is created automatically and does not (yet) have a way to know if a PR fixing the problem has been submitted. Please do *NOT* send your response to me directly; I do not necessarily have time to commit your fix; please instead submit a PR via 'send-pr' so it doesn't get lost. Problems are usually of two types: 1. The software package has been upgraded and the version in the port has been removed. The best solution to this problem is to upgrade the port to the most current version of the software package. If you are a FreeBSD committer, then you can just upgrade the port directly. If not, you should create the updated port on your own machine, test it (and maybe even run "portlint" on it), and then use "send-pr" to submit a "diff -uNr old-port updated-port". If you added or deleted any files, please make an explicit note of it. 2. The mirror site being used no longer contains the software package in question, or no longer exists. Solutions include: a) If there are other mirror sites, just remove the bad site from the list. (Make sure that what appears to be a bad site isn't actually a problem of type 1, upgrade) b) If the README or other support files in the software documentation mention where to get the software package, use one of those sites. c) Use a search engine to find another place to get the original DISTFILES. Make sure that you don't pick a FreeBSD distfiles mirror -- if you can't find any other places where the file exists, it can be a LOCAL_PORT or you can simply comment out the MASTER_SITES= line, with a comment explaining why. Once you have a solution, use "send-pr" to submit a "diff -u" of the Makefile. Note that this isn't an urgent issue, as people who try to build the port now will just fall back to the FreeBSD distfiles mirror. Please just put it on your list to do and get to it when you have time. These messages will continue to arrive twice a month until the fix is committed, as a reminder. Thanks, Bill "distfiles" Fenner. I'm cc'ing gnome@freebsd.org hopping there is a library that needs to be re-compiled. I don't think my upgrade went well 2.14 => 2.16. Although I just upgradeded everything. I believe this is my evolution issue (icons missing) issue as well. Jeremy, Curious how kde-xdg-env is needed for the 'save as'. If I read the description of kde-xdg-env it is used for startkde. I didn't see that the original poster is using kde. Maybe I missed the something. Any case my kde-xdg-env is up to date (I use xfce) and I have the 'save as' problem with Galeon, Epiphany, Firefox, & Evolution. As I posted in another email. I edited /usr/local/bin/startxfce4 and fixed the XDG_DATA_DIRS env variable to, /usr/share:/usr/local/share:/usr/local/share/gnome as described in the posts above and the problem went away. I am using the development version. Refer to http://www.freebsd.org/gnome/docs/develfaq.html for ones who don't know about it. % echo /var/db/pkg/*gtk*html* /var/db/pkg/gtkhtml3-3.13.91 In the FreeBSD ports tree, gtkhtml3-3.12.3 is there. Looking at the gtkhtml3 diff, there is an interface change. I somehow missed it; working on these things in the mid-night wasn't good idea... I am not familier to any of GTK stuff. I hope someone else can make the right fix for it. However, this did not start any programs referenced by this web page . This page didn't help much in the way of troubleshooting. It seemed pretty straightforward; set gnome_enable=3D"YES" and it should start all of GNOME's services. I'm guessing I'm missing something obvious. I recently upgraded my FreeBSD 6.2 system (FreeBSD chemnitz 6.2-STABLE FreeBSD 6.2-STABLE #3: Mon Feb 12 22:58:47 CET 2007 root@mybox:/usr/obj/src/sys/GENERIC.bv i386) from Python 2.4 to Python 2.5. Unfortunately the port textproc/py-libxml2 does not build correctly with python25-2.5_1. There is an error in the Makefile (textproc/py-libxml2/Makefile): Instead of CONFIGURE_ARGS= --with-iconv=${LOCALBASE} \ --with-html-dir=${PREFIX}/share/doc \ --with-html-subdir=${PORTNAME} \ --with-python=${LOCALBASE} there should be something like CONFIGURE_ARGS= --with-iconv=${LOCALBASE} \ --with-html-dir=${PREFIX}/share/doc \ --with-html-subdir=${PORTNAME} \ --with-python=${LOCALBASE}/bin/python${PYTHON_VERSION} Unfortunately with this change a linker error comes up. "-lxml2" (from libxml2-2.6.27/python/Makefile) does not find libxml2.so in /usr/local/lib. Inserting a "-L/usr/local/lib" in libxml2-2.6.27/python/Makefile is a hack to repair this. The problem is hard to find, because the port seams to build properly. But if you take a deeper look, you see that " pkg_info -L py25-libxml2-2.6.27|xargs -n 1 ls -1" shown non-existing files. I found this problem because xml2po from gnome-doc-utils-0.7.2_1 failed to "import libxml2". It is correct, though it does sound funny. I think that might have been Adam's intention when he wrote it. "build" in this case is an adjective to describe problems rather than a verb. Perhaps "Simple solutions to fix build problems - quickly!" would have been better, but then we wouldn't have the double entendre.
