Could you please visit http://people.freebsd.org/~fenner/portsurvey/gnome@freebsd.org.html and correct the problems listed there? The individual ports with problems are deskutils/gnome-menu-editor,sysutils/gnome-pkgview,x11/xscreensaver-gnome,x11/xscreensaver-gnome-hacks. If you have already corrected the problems and submitted a PR, please accept my thanks and apologies for the delay in getting the fixes into the tree. This reminder is created automatically and does not (yet) have a way to know if a PR fixing the problem has been submitted. Please do *NOT* send your response to me directly; I do not necessarily have time to commit your fix; please instead submit a PR via 'send-pr' so it doesn't get lost. Problems are usually of two types: 1. The software package has been upgraded and the version in the port has been removed. The best solution to this problem is to upgrade the port to the most current version of the software package. If you are a FreeBSD committer, then you can just upgrade the port directly. If not, you should create the updated port on your own machine, test it (and maybe even run "portlint" on it), and then use "send-pr" to submit a "diff -uNr old-port updated-port". If you added or deleted any files, please make an explicit note of it. 2. The mirror site being used no longer contains the software package in question, or no longer exists. Solutions include: a) If there are other mirror sites, just remove the bad site from the list. (Make sure that what appears to be a bad site isn't actually a problem of type 1, upgrade) b) If the README or other support files in the software documentation mention where to get the software package, use one of those sites. c) Use a search engine to find another place to get the original DISTFILES. Make sure that you don't pick a FreeBSD distfiles mirror -- if you can't find any other places where the file exists, it can be a LOCAL_PORT or you can simply comment out the MASTER_SITES= line, with a comment explaining why. Once you have a solution, use "send-pr" to submit a "diff -u" of the Makefile. Note that this isn't an urgent issue, as people who try to build the port now will just fall back to the FreeBSD distfiles mirror. Please just put it on your list to do and get to it when you have time. These messages will continue to arrive twice a month until the fix is committed, as a reminder. Thanks, Bill "distfiles" Fenner. Luckily the mails are intact after relaunching Thunderbird. If no new mails are waiting everything works fine, ie' there's no crash. I just did a "portupgrade -fR thunderbird" but to no avail. I'm using a std pop3 server, and everything used to work fine with V1.x. There's no bug-buddy thing happening, I just get a plain core dump and that's all even when running from a shell. I went and peppered all the shell scripts GDM runs with "logger $HOME" and saw that $HOME was changing from /home/kpd to /root after sourcing $HOME/.profile and it turns out that $HOME was set to /root in that file. I swear I never touched it! honest! Anyway, sorry to bother the list, and thank you for your help. -- "The biggest problem with communication is the illusion that it has occurred." G. B. Basically you have to succeed with this: $cat > test.cpp # include #include extern unsigned GC_version; int main(void){ unsigned min = ((6 << 16) | (4 << 8) | 0); printf("%d.%d.%d ",GC_version >> 16, (GC_version >> 8) & 0xFF, GC_version & 0xFF); if (GC_version>=min) return 0; return 1; } ^D $c++ -o conftest -O -pipe -march=pentium-m -fconserve-space -I/usr/local/include -I/usr/local/include/freetype2 -I/usr/X11R6/include -L/usr/local/lib -L/usr/X11R6/lib -pthread test.cpp -lgc $./conftest 6.8.255 $ Try to rebuild boehm-gc (even better do it with default options set). It this does not help show us backtrace. Alexander. I tracked it down to a collision between a symbol in libgtk2 and libgnomevfs: both export a symbol "_caches". The changelog from gtk indicates that it was renamed to avoid exporting it: that is probably just a quirk of the linker on linux. Renaming it with a name less likely to collide fixed the issue for me. The problem is that openoffice application fonts (the fonts in the pulldown menus) are not GTK2. They are blocky and low resolution. I installed from ports using make install clean, and I also tried making with the truetype font option. I have installed the same way previously, and it worked fine. Did something change recently, a new command line option that is needed? Any feedback is appreciated, thanks in advance. No, others have reported it, but I can no longer reproduce it. The problem stems from a symbol conflict between NSS and OpenSSL. If you remove the /usr/local/lib/pidgin/gevolution* files, the crashes should stop. Since I can't reproduce this anymore in 2.0.0, I'm not sure how best to solve this.
