I understand that it may be not correct. Anyway, I've submitted "bug report" to tracker bugzilla on gnome.org and hope that it would be fixed in next release. Other patches fix numerous crashes in tracker-search-tool on amd64 due to missing function prototypes, sorry for not mentionting it in PR. http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=470035 http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=470037 Thanks, Yuri From owner-freebsd-gnome@FreeBSD.ORG Sun Aug 26 00:20:27 2007 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-gnome@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 472EF16A41A for ; Sun, 26 Aug 2007 00:20:27 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from indigo23@gmail.com) Received: from wa-out-1112.google.com (wa-out-1112.google.com [209.85.146.180]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id A569C13C467 for ; Sun, 26 Aug 2007 00:20:26 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from indigo23@gmail.com) Received: by wa-out-1112.google.com with SMTP id m33so1423750wag for ; Sat, 25 Aug 2007 17:20:26 -0700 (PDT) DKIM-Signature: a=rsa-sha1; c=relaxed/relaxed; d=gmail.com; s=beta; h=domainkey-signature:received:received:message-id:date:from:to:subject:mime-version:content-type:content-transfer-encoding:content-disposition; b=NYDNRkzqQWUdZR9CL3f1EgDPEizX2q6p6dlwACyQQFsq51b8P9PYaFxdhkcQt1VeCybjg/byu10wA4QOh0uKJW1eXD9LKDMJH5XCZ/QbIqtay/SEonLMNz93LEJx1AhU3dA5PZ5ms2DgREjAMppI2O/QZixqokbuv+n5dSMj7pY= DomainKey-Signature: a=rsa-sha1; c=nofws; d=gmail.com; s=beta; h=received:message-id:date:from:to:subject:mime-version:content-type:content-transfer-encoding:content-disposition; b=r9KV3ZfIiiWnZxPnJzJ+CL3bkdiZ2BAMmzTnt79C5CGP5YeECLFVax8sREvept3oYhjPUv4rq98qSvatJXvxBHnq2C94ES5hC9PoiZ4OtS1VZboA4fyFkYyW6fa80eUoYnUGZrTOGFzvB7/9zxqcPhWxSqBQgkycp/PsvDfbLQE= Received: by 10.115.55.1 with SMTP id h1mr163wak.1188086177854; Sat, 25 Aug 2007 16:56:17 -0700 (PDT) Received: by 10.115.90.14 with HTTP; Sat, 25 Aug 2007 16:56:17 -0700 (PDT) Message-ID: <6f50eac40708251656m76ba8d94m729c6f87bcc5bc1@mail.gmail.com> Date: Sat, 25 Aug 2007 19:56:17 -0400 From: "Indigo 23" To: freebsd-gnome@freebsd.org MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Content-Disposition: inline Subject: Can't start gnome-settings-daemon X-BeenThere: freebsd-gnome@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: GNOME for FreeBSD -- porting and maintaining List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Sun, 26 Aug 2007 00:20:27 -0000 For some reason when I start gnome (2.18.3) it complains that it can't start the gnome-settings-daemon. Configure script checks for gamin explicitely, aborting process unless gamin is found. I had fam installed because I needed fam support for samba, and somehow gamin caused smbd to either core dump or loop. I had no time to look into the issue. With fam, samba worked good enough. For now, I did portupgrade -f -o devel/gamin fam. Another issue with tracker: compilation looks for includes in /usr/local/include before the source directory. The result is that the in-place update fails. Right now version 0.6.1 is up-to-date. And as I typed "whereis tracker", i got an audio tool back, this metatracker is also named tracker, maybe it would help to just rename it to metatracker or something, because people could this this audio tool is actually the metatracker, because it has also something to do with audio and so on. So in this case it will execute contents of /etc/sysconfig/language (hence the need of "echo") then execute "echo $RC_LANG". Output of this will be assigned to variable LANG.
