They, however do work on Linux. I guess that it's FreeBSD's driver fault, but that might be my fault as well, since I'm not sure if I need to do additional configuration. Is there a chance to make my multimedia buttons work? Also, the external numpad (aka Mediapad) does not work correctly. It's being detected, but when I try to use it and type something it types the wrong numbers. Like, if I press "5" i end up with "2" on the screen. Any ideas if I can get this 2 things to work? I'm using FreeBSD-7.0-BETA1. Thank you very much, and please CC me, as i'm not subscribed to the list. I think i have it all sorted out, except a way to drive an external alarm upon camera motion. I have set up the alarm panel with an additional zone, which corresponds to an EOL circuit terminating to a 47Kohm resistence. When i join the ends together i can see the light of the xmitter flashing, so the electric part is ok. (all the above with a powermax+ system, the EOL loop is attached to a magnetic contact, connected to its aux. input). I have the LMLBT4M card from linux media labs, which i managed to make it work with Zoneminder. This card supposedly has a GPIO feature, allowing it to control a "normally open" circuit. So i wrote a program to drive the GPIO bits but unfortunately i dont see it on the electric level. The circuit never closes when i attach the wires to the DB15 pins (11,12) and write the corresponding word to the GPIO data register. So what is left for me is to abandon the GPIO idea and find another way to do this: Have two states: a) (normal) Have the two wires isolated from eachother, ground, voltage b) (alarm) Connect the wires together (shortcircuiting the EOL). Could it be done someway with /dev/cuad* /dev/lpt* Many thanx for any hints. P.S. I noticed the same issue with two different SATA drives (LITE-ON LH-20A1S and HL-DT-ST GCC-H10N (in a Dell)). It caused problems during an install on a new system (the Dell) when it was trying to copy the GENERIC kernel onto the system. I resorted to an NFS install from another computer. It is all dependent on how many processors you want and if you want hot-swap options. Take a look at http://www.freedomtc.com/tower_servers.php Regards, ___________________________________________________ Lanny Baron FreeBSD Systems / Freedom Technologies Corporation Toll Free: 1.877.963.1900 High Performance Servers and RAID Storage Systems http://www.FreeBSDsystems.COM ___________________________________________________ Palle Girgensohn wrote: > Hi, > > I need recommendations for a bunch of developer's workstations, > preferrably something that can be bought in Sweden, and comes with > decent warranties etc. We used to build our own machines, but really > don't see the point about that anymore? > > We want to run FreeBSD, possibly version 7 right away, maybe we start > with 6.3.
