Please CC me any replies as I am not on the list, thank you. I'm not sure if this issue cropped up when I upgraded Xorg to 7.2 (which upgraded cups in the process), or when I upgraded OpenOffice to 2.2.1, but CUPS seems to forget about my printer. I'm pretty sure it happened at the Xorg upgrade I reinstalled OpenOffice, and my printer just showed up for a while, but then it dissapeared again. I tried the spadmin app, but I get printer errors. What I have: FreeBSD 6.2 OpenOffice 2.2.1 CUPS 1.2.11 Networked HP Laserjet 5, using the 'HP LaserJet Series PCL 4/5 CUPS v1.2' driver. I run: openoffice.org-2.2.1-spadmin & * "New Printer..." * "Add a Printer" [Next >>] * [import] * Browse to: "/usr/local/etc/cups/ppd" * Select: "HP LaserJet Series PCL 4/5" [OK] * I'm put back in the window with 'import'. The driver I selected doesn't appear, so I have tried leaving it on the generic driver, as well as trying several HP Laserjet 4 and 5 drivers, with the same results. * I leave the command line section as the default (blank, with an 'lpr -P "useage"' in the box. That strikes me as the likely area to have the problem. I click [Next >>] * I leave the default name, and click [Finish] When I open OpenOffice Writer, and the document I want to print, then go to "file"->"print", and select the printer I just added, I get a "Error while printing" dialog which only has an [ok] button. What should I do at this point? I suspect that something in the rebuild was missed when I upgraded OpenOffice, but I rebuilt it after Xorg, using portupgrade with -R, on the editors/openoffice.org-2 port. Thanks, -Jim Stapleton
