However, I did not succeed in getting a livecd to work -- my understanding is that (for most architectures, at least) disc 1 should be a live CD and contain the standard base system utilities. However, sysinstall from both a 7.0-beta1 and a 6.2-release disc 1 did not seem to think the disc was a live CD. Is this the expected behavior? I presume so, but want to check before I try to cross-build a pciconf binary to examine the sound card. Also, a livecd would be nice just to see how well FreeBSD plays with the hardware; if I do need to do a reinstall at some point, it would be nice to put FreeBSD on the machine as well as OS X.
