I cant seem to access the hdd's while using cfdisk or fdisk. ive used
sda-add. there are 4 18.2 scsi3 drives on a intergrated smart array
controller.
for that fact, i cant get any version of linux or bsd to see the drives
except rhel5.

Thank you,
Cyrus

You should be able to access your arrays if they are on a SmartArray
controller, you don't specify which one is in the system though.

Have you tried updating the firmware of the machine ? the 8500 is a
pretty ancient machine - maybe that would help.

You can download a firmware update CD at :

http://h18023.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/download/22722.html

Might not include your latest smart array firmware, but since you don't
specify which one is in the box - I cannot find that for you, but you
can always search for the name at :
http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/en/support.html
