We are thinking about getting a HP blade chassis and I am wondering whether the HP Smart Array E200i (as found in BL460c) supports monitoring of the hardware raid under FreeBSD, so that it exposes which disk failed and that we can see *THAT* a disk failed. Currently we've a Dell 1855 and 1955 blade chassis here, but it does not expose those values via SNMP nor does mpt (using LSI Logic / Symbios Logic SAS1068 PCI-X Fusion-MPT SAS) provide an interface to monitor. Syslog will show when a drive fails, the controller starts to use a hotspare, rebuilds, finishes the rebuild etc. Not sure, as I have never looked into it, if there is anything else right now. HP supposely just recently hired 1 engineer to start providing management drivers for FreeBSD, so hopefully soon we will have things like hpacucli, which allows to control the controller, like creating, extending a raid. > > Sincerly > > Nico > > -- > Think about Free and Open Source Software (FOSS). > http://nico.schottelius.org/documentations/foss/the-term-foss/ > > PGP: BFE4 C736 ABE5 406F 8F42 F7CF B8BE F92A 9885 188C -- Regards, Ulf. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Ulf Zimmermann, 1525 Pacific Ave., Alameda, CA-94501, #: 510-865-0204 You can find my resume at: http://www.Alameda.net/~ulf/resume.html
