I think it was supported on 6.2-RELEASE (according to code), no?

Hello

LX> I think it was supported on 6.2-RELEASE (according to code), no?

LX> Cheers,

No:
http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/man.cgi?query=mpt&sektion=4&manpath=FreeBSD+6.2-RELEASE

SAS support only here:
http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/man.cgi?query=mpt&apropos=0&sektion=4&manpath=FreeBSD+7-current&format=html

Hardware notes for 7.x

The following controllers are supported by the mpt(4) driver:
...
LSI Logic **AS1064**, LSI Logic AS1068
....

These systems also contain Integrated Raid Mirroring and Integrated
Raid Mirroring Enhanced which this driver also supports. The SAS
controller chips are also present on many new AMD/Opteron based
systems, like the Sun 4100. Note that this controller can drive both
SAS and SATA drives or a mix of them at the same time. The Integrated
Raid Mirroring available for these controllers is poorly supported at
best....

So, is it possible to backport this driver to 6.2 ?!

No, this is just because the documentation lagging behind code change,
but the code is there so it should work.

The support was MFC'ed at: Thu Jun 8 17:47:35 2006 UTC (16 months ago)
by mjacob.

Therefore, if it does not work, could you please let us know (preferably
with pciconf -lv output if you could, so we will be able to figure out
what's happening) so we can fix it?

If it's not causing I/O to stall and the system to eventually
freeze/panic, it's probably cosmetic. I don't know enough about
the Qlogic hardware to know exactly why it's happening.

It is impossible even start system now. It stops before HDD's
initialization, after:

Timecounters tick every 1.000 msec
ipfw2 (+ipv6) initialized, divert loadable, rule-based forwarding disabled, default to accept, logging limited to 100 packets/entry by default

Boot from CD not helped too :(
We will try today something else...

Is any idea from you, how to boot system on this machine with LSI
SAS 1064E controller?

This sounds like an interrupt related problem. Which motherboard do you
use?

Cheers,

Hello, LI.

LX> Cheers,

Talk about serious decision - Intel's Blade.
Chassis SBCE and blades SBXD132.

We think that problem not in controller, but in IBM's front panel
module (media bay), which FreeBSD recognize as umass. We will try
today compile kernel without umass and start system from HDD.

Hello

LX> The support was MFC'ed at: Thu Jun 8 17:47:35 2006 UTC (16 months ago)

LX> Therefore, if it does not work, could you please let us know (preferably

LX> what's happening) so we can fix it?

We did as described here
http://lists.freebsd.org/pipermail/freebsd-scsi/2007-October/003206.html and system was started on FreeBSD 6.2-release p8

But some problem still present.

pci4:0:0:" for Broadcom Ethernet.

Forgot to say that "if_bce.ko" driver loaded.
