To date I haven't had any issues using it (on 4 different architectures), I think it is just when you try to customize things after the first build that people have headaches... which makes no sense given that it works off of the preprocessor, so any changes should show up as different... but that's the only time I've had a problem with it... > dmesg, if you care: > > real memory = 4294967296 (4096 MB) > > What branch were you tracking? At the time it was simply the most up to date 6.2 branch, guess I missed that part in the copy/paste... I have nothing better to do later, so I'll see how the time on current goes as well From owner-freebsd-sparc64@FreeBSD.ORG Fri Apr 6 02:21:42 2007 Return-Path: X-Original-To: sparc64@freebsd.org Delivered-To: freebsd-sparc64@FreeBSD.ORG Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [69.147.83.52]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id B4EB116A401; Fri, 6 Apr 2007 02:21:42 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from tinderbox@freebsd.org) Received: from smarthost1.sentex.ca (smarthost1.sentex.ca [64.7.153.18]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 757FE13C455; Fri, 6 Apr 2007 02:21:42 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from tinderbox@freebsd.org) Received: from smtp2.sentex.ca (smtp2c.sentex.ca [64.7.153.30]) by smarthost1.sentex.ca (8.13.8/8.13.8) with ESMTP id l362LfE3059312; Thu, 5 Apr 2007 22:21:41 -0400 (EDT) (envelope-from tinderbox@freebsd.org) Received: from freebsd-current.sentex.ca (freebsd-current.sentex.ca [64.7.128.98]) by smtp2.sentex.ca (8.13.8/8.13.8) with ESMTP id l362LfV6052392; Thu, 5 Apr 2007 22:21:41 -0400 (EDT) (envelope-from tinderbox@freebsd.org) Received: by freebsd-current.sentex.ca (Postfix, from userid 666) id B19E473039; Thu, 5 Apr 2007 22:21:41 -0400 (EDT) Sender: FreeBSD Tinderbox From: FreeBSD Tinderbox To: FreeBSD Tinderbox , , Precedence: bulk Message-Id: <20070406022141.B19E473039@freebsd-current.sentex.ca> Date: Thu, 5 Apr 2007 22:21:41 -0400 (EDT) X-Virus-Scanned: ClamAV version devel-20070108, clamav-milter version devel-111206 on clamscanner1 X-Virus-Status: Clean Cc: Subject: [head tinderbox] failure on sparc64/sparc64 X-BeenThere: freebsd-sparc64@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 List-Id: Porting FreeBSD to the Sparc List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Fri, 06 Apr 2007 02:21:42 -0000 TB --- 2007-04-06 01:04:15 - tinderbox 2.3 running on freebsd-current.sentex.ca TB --- 2007-04-06 01:04:15 - starting HEAD tinderbox run for sparc64/sparc64 TB --- 2007-04-06 01:04:15 - cleaning the object tree TB --- 2007-04-06 01:04:57 - checking out the source tree TB --- 2007-04-06 01:04:57 - cd /tinderbox/HEAD/sparc64/sparc64 TB --- 2007-04-06 01:04:57 - /usr/bin/cvs -f -R -q -d/home/ncvs update -Pd -A src TB --- 2007-04-06 01:13:20 - building world (CFLAGS=-O2 -pipe) TB --- 2007-04-06 01:13:20 - cd /src TB --- 2007-04-06 01:13:20 - /usr/bin/make -B buildworld >>> World build started on Fri Apr 6 01:13:22 UTC 2007 >>> Rebuilding the temporary build tree >>> stage 1.1: legacy release compatibility shims >>> stage 1.2: bootstrap tools >>> stage 2.1: cleaning up the object tree >>> stage 2.2: rebuilding the object tree >>> stage 2.3: build tools >>> stage 3: cross tools >>> stage 4.1: building includes >>> stage 4.2: building libraries >>> stage 4.3: make dependencies >>> stage 4.4: building everything >>> World build completed on Fri Apr 6 02:09:49 UTC 2007 TB --- 2007-04-06 02:09:49 - generating LINT kernel config TB --- 2007-04-06 02:09:49 - cd /src/sys/sparc64/conf TB --- 2007-04-06 02:09:49 - /usr/bin/make -B LINT TB --- 2007-04-06 02:09:49 - building LINT kernel (COPTFLAGS=-O2 -pipe) TB --- 2007-04-06 02:09:49 - cd /src TB --- 2007-04-06 02:09:49 - /usr/bin/make buildkernel KERNCONF=LINT >>> Kernel build for LINT started on Fri Apr 6 02:09:49 UTC 2007 >>> stage 1: configuring the kernel >>> stage 2.1: cleaning up the object tree >>> stage 2.2: rebuilding the object tree >>> stage 2.3: build tools >>> stage 3.1: making dependencies >>> stage 3.2: building everything [...] rm -f hack.c MAKE=/usr/bin/make sh /src/sys/conf/newvers.sh LINT cc -c -O2 -pipe -fno-strict-aliasing -std=c99 -Wall -Wredundant-decls -Wnested-externs -Wstrict-prototypes -Wmissing-prototypes -Wpointer-arith -Winline -Wcast-qual -Wundef -fformat-extensions -nostdinc -I- -I. -I/src/sys -I/src/sys/contrib/altq -D_KERNEL -DHAVE_KERNEL_OPTION_HEADERS -include opt_global.h -fno-common -finline-limit=15000 --param inline-unit-growth=100 --param large-function-growth=1000 -fno-builtin -mcmodel=medany -msoft-float -ffreestanding -Werror vers.c linking kernel support.o(.text+0x6c0): In function `memset': : multiple definition of `memset' memset.o(.text+0x0): first defined here ld: Warning: size of symbol `memset' changed from 40 in memset.o to 192 in support.o *** Error code 1 Stop in /obj/sparc64/src/sys/LINT. *** Error code 1 Stop in /src. *** Error code 1 Stop in /src. Hello, Guillaume - Part of the error output above seems to indicate that you are missing a valid snmpd.conf -- though I wouldn't expect that to cause a segfault. If you don't have an snmpd.conf, you might try generating one. Are you compiling it yourself, or using a port or package? If the latter, and you have used all of the default options, you might contact the maintainer or file a PR. I'm no debugging expert, but this may not be a sparc64-specific issue, so you might also have better luck on an snmpd-related list. Royce -- Royce D.
