Try setting in the configurations of these programs (and whatever sound daemon kde uses) the correct audio device to use it could be an access right issue too - make sure you test as root with your multimeidia app, or osstest with a normal user if doable). /etc/devfs.conf shall be able to help you if it is ACL issue.
