I have boiled it down to an issue in the buffer ks_ndata (holds new keystrokes). Every write to ks_ndata fills the first element with 0x03 (ErrorUndefined). Normally control keys like ctrl/alt/shift would fill the first element. Has anyone had any similar issues with other keyboards? If so, do you have any insights I may have missed? Cheers, Sam. Could you try the following: 11.16.3.3 System Hangs (temporary or permanent) Most system hangs are a result of lost interrupts or an interrupt storm. Chipsets have a lot of problems based on how the BIOS configures interrupts before boot, correctness of the APIC (MADT) table, and routing of the System Control Interrupt (SCI). Interrupt storms can be distinguished from lost interrupts by checking the output of vmstat -i and looking at the line that has acpi0. If the counter is increasing at more than a couple per second, you have an interrupt storm. If the system appears hung, try breaking to DDB (CTRL+ALT+ESC on console) and type show interrupts. Your best hope when dealing with interrupt problems is to try disabling APIC support with hint.apic.0.disabled="1" in loader.conf. Or you can enter "set hint.apic.0.disabled=1" on the loader prompt. --HPS From owner-freebsd-usb@FreeBSD.ORG Thu Mar 1 16:51:24 2007 Return-Path: X-Original-To: freebsd-usb@freebsd.org Delivered-To: freebsd-usb@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [69.147.83.52]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id B3EB016A40D for ; Thu, 1 Mar 2007 16:51:24 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from antik@bsd.ee) Received: from smtp-gw1.starman.ee (smtp-out5.starman.ee [85.253.0.7]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 6F99013C46B for ; Thu, 1 Mar 2007 16:51:24 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from antik@bsd.ee) Received: from mx1.starman.ee (mx1.starman.ee [62.65.192.16]) by smtp-gw1.starman.ee (Postfix) with ESMTP id 96163A214F2 for ; Thu, 1 Mar 2007 18:31:43 +0200 (EET) Received: from [192.168.2.100] (pc116.host50.starman.ee [62.65.242.116]) (using TLSv1 with cipher DHE-RSA-AES256-SHA (256/256 bits)) (No client certificate requested) by mx1.starman.ee (Postfix) with ESMTP id F3FC723C53D for ; Thu, 1 Mar 2007 18:31:43 +0200 (EET) From: Andrei Kolu To: freebsd-usb@freebsd.org Date: Thu, 1 Mar 2007 18:31:42 +0200 User-Agent: KMail/1.9.5 References: <002201c75ba5$24596bc0$d20aa8c0@winxprick> <200703011701.43339.antik@bsd.ee> <200703011707.54759.hselasky@c2i.net> In-Reply-To: <200703011707.54759.hselasky@c2i.net> MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Content-Disposition: inline Message-Id: <200703011831.42810.antik@bsd.ee> X-Virus-Scanned: by Amavisd-New at mx1.starman.ee Subject: Re: amd64 usb error=4 intel dg965ry mainboard X-BeenThere: freebsd-usb@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: FreeBSD support for USB List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Thu, 01 Mar 2007 16:51:24 -0000 On Thursday 01 March 2007 18:07, you wrote: > On Thursday 01 March 2007 16:01, Andrei Kolu wrote: > > My computer hardlocked after "upgrading" to this USB stack. > > > > Intel 82801FB (ICH6) USB 2.0 controller > > Intel 82801FB/FR/FW/FRW (ICH6) USB controller > > > > FreeBSD 6.2-RELEASE-p1 > > This might be an interrupt issue. Under linux everything works fine... I've looked everywhere on google but everything I got is that freebsd has some issues having two devices on the same usb port. Does this mean I'll never be able to use this mouse under freeBSD? Does anybody has a clue on how to make it work? I have a patch that should get it working fine that I will be posting in the very near future, the latest would be Saturday. I am just doing some final testing now. While the latter is certainly true, it's most probably not the root of your= =20 problem. The problem with these mouse/keyboard combo devices is that=20 =46reeBSD's HID (Human Interface Device Standard) implementation is very=20 limited and supports only the most basic devices. I'm currently working on= =20 restructuring and fixing our HID code (which includes the mouse driver), bu= t=20 as I'm short on time, progress is currently slow. You might however, if you are running 6.x, try the following kernel module: http://people.freebsd.org/~markus/stuff/ums.ko Build a kernel without "device ums" and load the above mentioned kernel mod= ule=20 via kldload(8). Please report back, if it works for you or not.
