I'd like to add info for the ##FreeBSD channel on freenode's IRC network. Channel ##FreeBSD on Freenode is a general help channel with about 300 users at any time. The conversations have been known to run off-topic for a while, but priority is given to users with FreeBSD questions. We're good about helping you understand the basics, referring to the handbook whenever possible, and directing you where to learn more about the topic you need help with. We're a primarily english speaking channel, though we have users from all over the world. If you'd like to speak in your native language, try to ask the question in english and then relocate to another channel ##freebsd- as appropriate. >How-To-Repeat: >Fix: >Release-Note: >Audit-Trail: >Unformatted: From owner-freebsd-www@FreeBSD.ORG Mon Nov 26 03:10:04 2007 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-www@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 8739B16A420 for ; Mon, 26 Nov 2007 03:10:04 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from artur@eboundhost.com) Received: from em.eboundhost.com (em.eboundhost.com [65.91.249.22]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 4711D13C44B for ; Mon, 26 Nov 2007 03:10:04 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from artur@eboundhost.com) Received: from localhost (localhost.localdomain [127.0.0.1]) by em.eboundhost.com (Postfix) with ESMTP id 9C3AB4C888B; Sun, 25 Nov 2007 20:41:41 -0600 (CST) X-Virus-Scanned: amavisd-new at X-Spam-Flag: NO X-Spam-Score: 2.91 X-Spam-Level: ** X-Spam-Status: No, score=2.91 tagged_above=-10 required=6.6 tests=[AWL=0.527, BAYES_50=0.001, DYN_RDNS_SHORT_HELO_HTML=0.499, HTML_MESSAGE=0.001, RCVD_IN_PBL=0.905, RCVD_IN_SORBS_DUL=0.877, RDNS_DYNAMIC=0.1] Received: from em.eboundhost.com ([127.0.0.1]) by localhost (em.eboundhost.com [127.0.0.1]) (amavisd-new, port 10024) with ESMTP id EvC-L5T4OJFe; Sun, 25 Nov 2007 20:41:34 -0600 (CST) Received: from mobility (c-71-57-18-206.hsd1.il.comcast.net [71.57.18.206]) by em.eboundhost.com (Postfix) with ESMTP id A0B014C8895; Sun, 25 Nov 2007 20:41:34 -0600 (CST) Message-ID: <004a01c82fd5$e56fad60$6701a8c0@mobility> From: "eBoundHost: Artur" To: Date: Sun, 25 Nov 2007 20:41:49 -0600 MIME-Version: 1.0 X-Priority: 3 X-MSMail-Priority: Normal X-Mailer: Microsoft Outlook Express 6.00.2900.3138 X-MimeOLE: Produced By Microsoft MimeOLE V6.00.2900.3198 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable X-Content-Filtered-By: Mailman/MimeDel 2.1.5 Cc: erik@cepheid.org Subject: Requested changes to web page X-BeenThere: freebsd-www@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: FreeBSD Project Webmasters List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Mon, 26 Nov 2007 03:10:04 -0000 Hello List, I would like to submit a change to the following page: http://www.freebsd.org/internal/fortunes.html My request is that we replace the words=20 "Hitler quotes." with the phrase "The speaker of the quote is not to be the basis for categorizing the = quote as offensive." (quoted from Erik Osterholm freebsd-lists-erik@erikosterholm.org with = his permission) We have just had a conversation at freebsd-questions about this topic = and it was pointed out that we need to have the hitler reference for the = sake of keeping the quotes unfiltered, and I agree with the fact that we = should not filter out quotes in the databased unless they are directly = vulgar or offensive. But my opinion is that having the "hitler quotes" = on the front page, polarizes the topic and takes away from the entire = project. The suggested replacement is a much more effective and intelligent way = of conveying this message.
