Note that futzing with the RTC might break the periodic clock interrupts which would explain the breakage you are seeing with top not working, etc. I would try setting 'debug.acpi.block_bad_io=1' to disable access to these registers altogether. We should probably consider changing this to block by default like other OS's (by default we still allow access to "sensitive" I/O ports and just emit a warning). -- John Baldwin From owner-freebsd-acpi@FreeBSD.ORG Mon Aug 18 17:48:08 2008 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-acpi@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 5D6E5106568F for ; Mon, 18 Aug 2008 17:48:08 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from imobachgs@gmail.com) Received: from mail-gx0-f17.google.com (mail-gx0-f17.google.com [209.85.217.17]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id DA95B8FC1E for ; Mon, 18 Aug 2008 17:48:07 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from imobachgs@gmail.com) Received: by gxk10 with SMTP id 10so4494764gxk.19 for ; Mon, 18 Aug 2008 10:48:07 -0700 (PDT) DKIM-Signature: v=1; a=rsa-sha256; c=relaxed/relaxed; d=gmail.com; s=gamma; h=domainkey-signature:received:received:message-id:date:from:to :subject:mime-version:content-type; bh=0AkREvWyFLtabNaqwByieo7d6FWe9tc5qJI6AWVyRJc=; b=sd9Rw1WZ0NWqhMVYebID4wj7f11GMu5dT58Mqcn2e3+4XDjH7HRumlxBFzpTOyj0wg 9LJ3LlB3kb7QRI8i8/CD/Tz0XVXg1wZdH83nvDLdc0fszRXL6RCiv+UmcZiNoeVT3m9S qhDUKounflnAkjFKrvNnOZc/L4ZX238fBfaQg= DomainKey-Signature: a=rsa-sha1; c=nofws; d=gmail.com; s=gamma; h=message-id:date:from:to:subject:mime-version:content-type; b=dO4oedijDdybnWajyrZOvU54iUhzsjbNzdVKDLOiVfwh1mykHx5/26/EMwU3E6VvJ+ 0KVMTMy6Pge2VMwdXZqJDKPmYkaupgmeEIZJYhv09mTpSVjzttKQkn7opMhzldj//ghu fot4WAMjrsck7weAxulJ0woXiflNDLHmNftdM= Received: by 10.150.154.6 with SMTP id b6mr10042768ybe.92.1219080053672; Mon, 18 Aug 2008 10:20:53 -0700 (PDT) Received: by 10.150.98.19 with HTTP; Mon, 18 Aug 2008 10:20:53 -0700 (PDT) Message-ID: <5f0cf48c0808181020r72e639e4l42e1952b85da1608@mail.gmail.com> Date: Mon, 18 Aug 2008 18:20:53 +0100 From: "=?ISO-8859-1?Q?Imobach_Gonz=E1lez_Sosa?=" To: freebsd-acpi@freebsd.org MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: multipart/mixed; boundary="----=_Part_194381_26971523.1219080053616" X-Content-Filtered-By: Mailman/MimeDel 2.1.5 Subject: Video doesn't work after resume (Latitude D410) X-BeenThere: freebsd-acpi@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: ACPI and power management development List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Mon, 18 Aug 2008 17:48:08 -0000 ------=_Part_194381_26971523.1219080053616 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Content-Disposition: inline Hi all, I'm having problems when resuming my Dell Latitude D410 after suspend (from S3). The machine is alive (I can access to it via ssh) but the video doesn't work anymore. I've tried some solutions like [1] or playing around with hw.acpi.reset_video, but I've had no luck. I'm using FreeBSD 7.0-RELEASE-p2 but this problem isn't new for me. I've got the same issue with 7.0-RELEASE-p0. I've not tested this issue with FreeBSD 6. I've attached the ASL because I don't have any server where I could publish it. I've compressed it with gzip and only takes 14KB. Sorry for the inconveniences. I've also attached the output from dmesg (after booting with "-v" option). Your mobo is very old and probably includes only the minimal information needed to make MS Windoze work. The easiest work-around is to disable ACPI. --=20 Peter Jeremy Please excuse any delays as the result of my ISP's inability to implement an MTA that is either RFC2821-compliant or matches their claimed behaviour. --d6Gm4EdcadzBjdND Content-Type: application/pgp-signature Content-Disposition: inline -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v2.0.9 (FreeBSD) iEYEARECAAYFAkinWgIACgkQ/opHv/APuIdiwwCgoV4jdkAlpl2sbEaOzFIlP5EG hE8AoKxCOpSs8sirQSReWKLqp7LtG44b =VfZX -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- --d6Gm4EdcadzBjdND-- From owner-freebsd-acpi@FreeBSD.ORG Mon Aug 18 23:38:14 2008 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-acpi@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 025C41065684 for ; Mon, 18 Aug 2008 23:38:14 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from imobachgs@gmail.com) Received: from nf-out-0910.google.com (nf-out-0910.google.com [64.233.182.184]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 22F248FC12 for ; Mon, 18 Aug 2008 23:38:12 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from imobachgs@gmail.com) Received: by nf-out-0910.google.com with SMTP id h3so1562986nfh.33 for ; Mon, 18 Aug 2008 16:38:11 -0700 (PDT) DKIM-Signature: v=1; a=rsa-sha256; c=relaxed/relaxed; d=gmail.com; s=gamma; h=domainkey-signature:received:received:message-id:date:from :user-agent:mime-version:to:subject:references:in-reply-to :content-type; bh=NXsB2qZdvrbfcRHncaO3ebUZpx9pHPLAxOaSV2oc1hk=; b=YawP/SfE7zN8prGy8eetQLBObB/I/jTgDqaslMS8xD0XtdL9fvLApUu8QqnGGOJsNW hiJYjnqyo0BIMhaTk60q8DZWwM1oJ3/oOfn7/q+nsmxsZiLl+VgMwGjN77kEq5c8lSll wJKEPiWEJo2PZn+dbSlAJhu8DsJ4qJ07ViWRs= DomainKey-Signature: a=rsa-sha1; c=nofws; d=gmail.com; s=gamma; h=message-id:date:from:user-agent:mime-version:to:subject:references :in-reply-to:content-type; b=mDOoCU8AW8Sfq+Pors2Epknrp4134Eg52nW1/I4zcRZQJQvP8EHrC8BI2IiUf04yen VExjCbTzcx29aFqPkjMPX8z8I50ljDlmAyuYUmVi2NDTroCUQGQ/5Q4TqAlcz0DgXjCR 2PqFK9MQY2HubryTKfybwc7AfBEVO4RvBPZGc= Received: by 10.210.113.16 with SMTP id l16mr8783093ebc.27.1219102691395; Mon, 18 Aug 2008 16:38:11 -0700 (PDT) Received: from ?192.168.1.34? Stopping powerd left the CPU running in the last mode it was in. This patch extents powerd's command line by the parameter '-e' to set the exit mode. By default, it will set the CPU into maximum mode. This patch is for FreeBSD 6.3 updated beginning of the month. In which case, it will be easier for you to find the "lost" code. There seems to be a communications gap between you and the rest of us. What we are trying to say is that FreeBSD has not removed code that worked around the bugs in your mobo's ACPI. Rather FreeBSD is now relying on ACPI functionality that it never previously exercised. This means that the breakage in your ACPI is more apparent. We seem to have jumped threads at some point. I thought the conclusion =66rom April's thread was that you were just going to disable ACPI on your BE6-II. If you want to investigate the problems with yur GA-6BX7, you could start by setting VERBOSE_SYSINIT (look in kern/kern_tc.c to see what it does) and then start adding printf()s to find exactly which subsystem is hanging and where it is hanging. --=20 Peter Jeremy Please excuse any delays as the result of my ISP's inability to implement an MTA that is either RFC2821-compliant or matches their claimed behaviour. --EVF5PPMfhYS0aIcm Content-Type: application/pgp-signature Content-Disposition: inline -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v2.0.9 (FreeBSD) iEYEARECAAYFAkipOEYACgkQ/opHv/APuIeQlwCgmaengl1ILPLkzarLSN5KW33V lV8An25QgLALjCCboDjCTsjsOV9cml0F =Ldf1 -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- --EVF5PPMfhYS0aIcm-- From owner-freebsd-acpi@FreeBSD.ORG Wed Aug 20 03:40:47 2008 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-acpi@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 08BA0106564A for ; Wed, 20 Aug 2008 03:40:47 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from oceanare@pacific.net.sg) Received: from smtpgate3.pacific.net.sg (smtpgate3.pacific.net.sg [203.81.36.33]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with SMTP id 387EA8FC16 for ; Wed, 20 Aug 2008 03:40:45 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from oceanare@pacific.net.sg) Received: (qmail 29378 invoked from network); 20 Aug 2008 03:40:42 -0000 Received: from bb116-14-29-164.singnet.com.sg (HELO P2120.somewherefaraway.com) (oceanare@116.14.29.164) by smtpgate3.pacific.net.sg with ESMTPA; 20 Aug 2008 03:40:42 -0000 Message-ID: <48AB923A.6030207@pacific.net.sg> Date: Wed, 20 Aug 2008 11:40:42 +0800 From: Erich Dollansky User-Agent: Thunderbird 2.0.0.14 (X11/20080617) MIME-Version: 1.0 To: Nate Lawson References: <48AA2F87.8060506@pacific.net.sg> <20080819073709.GU32539@server.vk2pj.dyndns.org> <48AAE3CF.50405@root.org> In-Reply-To: <48AAE3CF.50405@root.org> Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1; format=flowed Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Cc: Peter Jeremy , freebsd-acpi@freebsd.org Subject: Re: powerd, please test patch X-BeenThere: freebsd-acpi@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: ACPI and power management development List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Wed, 20 Aug 2008 03:40:47 -0000 Hi, Nate Lawson wrote: > Peter Jeremy wrote: >> On 2008-Aug-19 10:27:19 +0800, Erich Dollansky wrote: >>> I am using powerd on a notebook.
