Next time I'll boot the machine I'll try to make it a verbose boot. It's a production machine which cannot restart on demand ofcourse :) Note: First the problems occured much more, this was because the usb interfaces on the machine co-existed with the atapci0 interface, after disabling usb on the system, it took a lot longer to trigger the interrupt storm (50 days if I recall correctly).
