These video cards are supported by x11-drivers/xf86-video-mach64 and x11-drivers/xf86-video-r128 respectively. If you have one of the affected video cards and xorg.conf contains the following line: Driver "ati" you must specify "mach64" or "r128". It doesn't any more. At this point, ati looks to just be a synonym for radeon. At least in the xorg.conf on my 2373 T42, either Driver "ati" or Driver "radeon" works. -Warren Block * Rapid City, South Dakota USA From owner-freebsd-mobile@FreeBSD.ORG Sat Jul 19 04:58:07 2008 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-mobile@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 7065B1065672 for ; Sat, 19 Jul 2008 04:58:07 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from smallhand@crawblog.com) Received: from rv-out-0506.google.com (rv-out-0506.google.com [209.85.198.231]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 4ACD68FC13 for ; Sat, 19 Jul 2008 04:58:07 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from smallhand@crawblog.com) Received: by rv-out-0506.google.com with SMTP id b25so715973rvf.43 for ; Fri, 18 Jul 2008 21:58:07 -0700 (PDT) Received: by 10.141.48.6 with SMTP id a6mr498419rvk.236.1216441768630; Fri, 18 Jul 2008 21:29:28 -0700 (PDT) Received: by 10.141.97.9 with HTTP; Fri, 18 Jul 2008 21:29:28 -0700 (PDT) Message-ID: <919383240807182129y5b390d48x1a7eaa2f08711080@mail.gmail.com> Date: Fri, 18 Jul 2008 23:29:28 -0500 From: "Edward Ruggeri" To: freebsd-mobile@freebsd.org MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Content-Disposition: inline Subject: T61 ThinkPad Wireless X-BeenThere: freebsd-mobile@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: Mobile computing with FreeBSD List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Sat, 19 Jul 2008 04:58:07 -0000 I recently bought a ThinkPad with a ThinkPad 11a/b/g Wireless LAN Mini Express Adapter (AR5212). Do you think it would be possible to send, off list, your kernel configuration file, and maybe dmesg or pciconf -lv (actually, pciconf -lv would help determine whether our cards differ at all; Lenovo says mine has the ar5006ex chipset, but that's not what FreeBSD says)? I'm not certain what I've done wrong to cause these errors. Thanks for the feedback! Sincerely, -- Ned Ruggeri
