In many cases these ports are failing to compile on some subset of the FreeBSD build environments. The most common problem is that recent versions of -CURRENT include gcc4.2, which is much stricter than older versions. The next most common problem is that compiles succeed on the i386 architecture (e.g. the common Intel PC), but fail on one or more of the other architectures due to assumptions about things such as size of various types, byte-alignment issues, and so forth. In occasional cases we see that the same port may have different errors in different build environments. The script that runs on the build cluster uses heuristics to try to 'guess' the error type to help you isolate problems, but it is only a rough guide. One more note: on occasion, there are transient build errors seen on the build farm. Unfortunately, there is not yet any way for this algorithm to tell the difference (humans are much, much better at this kind of thing.) The errors are listed below. In the case where the same problem exists on more than one build environment, the URL points to the latest errorlog for that type. (By 'build environment' here we mean 'combination of 5.x/6.x/-current with target architecture'.) (Note: the dates are included to help you to gauge whether or not the error still applies to the latest version. The program that generates this report is not yet able to determine this automatically.) portname: graphics/gstreamer-plugins-swfdec broken because: Does not compile build errors: none. overview: http://portsmon.FreeBSD.org/portoverview.py?category=graphics&portname=gstreamer-plugins-swfdec portname: multimedia/dirac-reference broken because: Incorrect pkg-plist build errors: http://pointyhat.FreeBSD.org/errorlogs/sparc64-errorlogs/e.5.2006121119/dirac-reference-0.6.0_2.log (Dec 28 19:25:05 UTC 2006) overview: http://portsmon.FreeBSD.org/portoverview.py?category=multimedia&portname=dirac-reference portname: multimedia/mjpegtools-yuvfilters broken because: Does not compile build errors: http://pointyhat.FreeBSD.org/errorlogs/sparc64-errorlogs/e.6.2008021817/mjpegtools-yuvfilters-1.1_4.log (Mar 5 04:11:36 UTC 2008) overview: http://portsmon.FreeBSD.org/portoverview.py?category=multimedia&portname=mjpegtools-yuvfilters portname: multimedia/y4mscaler broken because: Does not compile build errors: http://pointyhat.FreeBSD.org/errorlogs/sparc64-errorlogs/e.6.2008021817/y4mscaler-9.0_2.log (Mar 5 04:11:47 UTC 2008) overview: http://portsmon.FreeBSD.org/portoverview.py?category=multimedia&portname=y4mscaler If these errors are ones that you are already aware of, please accept our apologies and ignore this message. Every effort has been made to make sure that these error reports really do correspond to a port that you maintain. However, due to the fact that this is an automated process, it may indeed generate false matches. It isn't any problem under Linux, using v4l(2) - but, unfortunately, under FreeBSD: each time, when the program has been terminated, the audio automatically gets muted. It's in the driver, yes. Of course you can code a small capture application that doesn't really do anything with the video data, but merely keeps the device open. Or patch the driver for your purpose, should be one line. The original graphics card was a Nvidia FX5200. Running Xorg -configure found it the first time and X started. I then managed to get KDE running but I use Gnome, so I loaded gnome and edited rc.conf to use gdm instead of kdm. And I goofed at that point by missing out one of the quotes . so when FreeBSD V7 was rebooted it hung. I managed with help to mount /etc/rc.conf and edit it, but then problems. Xorg would not start properly, with a fatal message of cant find screens. running Xorg -configure failed repeatedly not knowing which driver to load. I've manually edited xorg.conf with know good setting from linux, where the same card is used, but still failed on no screens found. So next was a complete re-install, and the same happened again. In case it was the graphics card I bought new PCI Express Nvidia 8500T which allegedly uses the same xorg driver "nv". Now I have two graphics cars that Xorg -configure cant find. Both cards are found without any problems when linux is running. I can't understand why on the first install the card was found and configured, but on all subsequent installs they both fail. Ideas please Also are there drivers available for my DVB-T card :- Multimedia video controller: Conexant CX23880/1/2/3 PCI Video and Audio Decoder (rev 05) Subsystem: Hauppauge computer works Inc. The best refernce to help with configuring FreeBSD (if you're used to Linux= like I was/am) is still the FreeBSD Handbook. http://www.freebsd.org/doc/en_US.ISO8859-1/books/handbook/ I've had many nvidia cards, its best to update your FreeBSD ports, and then= install and load the nvidia-driver. #portsnap fetch extract update #cd /usr/ports/x11/nvidia-driver/ ; make install clean optionally, #cd /usr/ports/x11/nvidia-settings/ ; make install clean #cd /usr/ports/x11/nvidia-xconfig/ ; make install clean (a nice GUI version of xorgconfig -but you'll have to be root/sudo) -if you already have xorg, and gnome then run #xorgconfig -even though its a CLI, I like to use "xorgconfig". -re-edit /etc/X11/xorg.conf and under the Section "Device" make sure you "n= vidia" after Driver, NOT the xorg "nv" . ie: Driver "nvidia" http://www.nvidia.com/object/freebsd_169.12.html -has some good tips on fine-tuning your xorg.conf settings, as well as (http://us.download.nvidia.com/freebsd/169.12/README/chapter-04-section-02.= html) although the basic ones (via the FreeBSD ports and Handbook are more than s= ufficient. also, you shouldn't have to edit /etc/rc.conf at all, other than optionally= having the linux emulator of your cho ice loaded ie: in /etc/rc.conf -> linux_enable=3D"YES" edit ~/.xinitrc and add "exec startkde" (if your using kde) or exec startgnome, although I'm not sure-I dont use gnome. and make sure you have the line: nvidia_load=3D"YES" in /boot/loader.conf anyway, sorry if I'm long-winded here , but its all in the FreeBSD Handbook= :) -For the conexant/Huappage stuff check out the "pvrxxx" FreeBSD port and/or= serch the subject threads here. I have a Hauppage PVR-350 thats workin great on FreeBSD 6.2-STABLE, althoug= h I havent checked in a year or so :) Good luck. ood luck. _________________________________________________________________ Find hidden words, unscramble celebrity names, or try the ultimate crosswor= d puzzle with Live Search Games.
