Not sure about xmodmap but you can modify your /usr/local/share/X11/xkb/symbols/pc to have the following definition for Delete key: key { type="PC_CONTROL_LEVEL2", [ Delete, BackSpace ] }; You can do more research on XKB configuration and how to do the above in non-intrusive way. The key thing here is you need to change type of Delete key to control-modifiable. -- Andriy Gapon From owner-freebsd-x11@FreeBSD.ORG Mon Aug 4 16:20:29 2008 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-x11@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id B06591065686 for ; Mon, 4 Aug 2008 16:20:29 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from donotreply@TringMe.com) Received: from tringme.com (tringme.com [67.228.46.178]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 9EBC18FC0C for ; Mon, 4 Aug 2008 16:20:29 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from donotreply@TringMe.com) Received: by tringme.com (Postfix, from userid 1006) id DCE39B6899E; Mon, 4 Aug 2008 10:56:11 -0500 (CDT) To: freebsd-x11@freebsd.org From: TringMe Message-Id: <20080804155611.DCE39B6899E@tringme.com> Date: Mon, 4 Aug 2008 10:56:11 -0500 (CDT) Subject: Make Free Calls Worldwide - Invitation From Mohd. However, I cannot find any solution. Can someone > please point me in the right direction for a solution to this please? > This sounds slightly familiar. I sometimes have these freezes too, but when I'm still in xfce4. Pressing the power knob still works for me, as well as logging in remotely via ssh. This means that only the screen (which turns black, no backlight on) and keyboard/mouse are frozen. This is with an Asus A6JE, Ati Radeon X1450 running xorg 7.3 with xf86-video-radeonhd 1.2.1. I installed 7.0 on a Sun Netra T1 AC200 headless server. Installed through serial terminal and got networking up. Installed X.org distribution and realvnc package. Is there even a graphics card in this thing? Seems like vnc needs an X-capable box for it to work, since it appears to run like Xnest does as a client of the real X server. Completely headless machine, only direct IO to the hardware is the LOM/console port. Right before I installed FreeBSD I did install a sparc 64 port of Debian on it. X ran through vnc, but had a minor issue where some of the menus and title bars of windows under gnome were black. I did not choose to troubleshoot that install since other system processes were crashing and it was not stable. FreeBSD seems very solid running on Sparc hardware so far. This sounds more like a gpu crash, or a deadlock in the xserver. So, I don't think that these two cases are the same. Since you can ssh in, have a look at top while it's hung and see what state the xorg process is in. If it is in drmlk2, it's locked. If that looks ok, then it's probably a gpu crash, if you set sysctl hw.dri.0.debug=3D1 you will probably see a lot of radeon_cp_idle and timeout calls. robert. > HTH, > Rene --=-2W3tbksEFoxnwiyDpX04 Content-Type: application/pgp-signature; name=signature.asc Content-Description: This is a digitally signed message part -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v2.0.9 (FreeBSD) iEYEABECAAYFAkieBC4ACgkQM4TrQ4qfRONcEwCfRZ6m0DYfUybk1xiDjjsi1YtF gFQAnA4BPTbxDkdg+AI46gcMk96K8P1U =IeMk -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- --=-2W3tbksEFoxnwiyDpX04--
