Preferred format is to post the log messages before, during and after the slow part of the boot. b) As you are (obviously) trying the beta version I guess you have also tried to boot with stable version RELENG_7_2 to check that the slow boot process also occurs over there. This will give us pointers whether it is some potential bug in RELENG_8. /Rick -- http://rickvanderzwet.nl From owner-freebsd-embedded@FreeBSD.ORG Fri Sep 25 06:25:51 2009 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-embedded@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 8BAD5106568F for ; Fri, 25 Sep 2009 06:25:51 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from boneandfat@gmail.com) Received: from qw-out-2122.google.com (qw-out-2122.google.com [74.125.92.24]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 4306F8FC0C for ; Fri, 25 Sep 2009 06:25:51 +0000 (UTC) Received: by qw-out-2122.google.com with SMTP id 5so640003qwd.7 for ; Thu, 24 Sep 2009 23:25:50 -0700 (PDT) DKIM-Signature: v=1; a=rsa-sha256; c=relaxed/relaxed; d=gmail.com; s=gamma; h=domainkey-signature:mime-version:received:in-reply-to:references :date:message-id:subject:from:to:cc:content-type; bh=CXapwLh3cyclN5UaU+UOYJaex16ARN/CMyE0QVU1JCs=; b=oAIOhfQcnSvkom9pbe58BEGe9e3TgFo8yTNGjEr+BsDddrjLL/Iiz6xzs/tB7l52qQ WukPTlUz15Xbdz2sv6Gq3tzw/Muhw+U1UfTEg/2NuK1Hz1zt7jrgJyczIMHwQLBw3Osm 0vJ+HPu3ypwNG3u7jGHSS9ex5Lra/gkUrWDow= DomainKey-Signature: a=rsa-sha1; c=nofws; d=gmail.com; s=gamma; h=mime-version:in-reply-to:references:date:message-id:subject:from:to :cc:content-type; b=LzH5qKz5NlJt6Yz54zifnqs2ukE1+DVf+5uUVFZ/ATAKpPmI+4syES3GgLJjV397fs C6QByd22fYO2u0enq7YGJkLLqCc26xXyT3d0w/nsYC2mJsmxxQfFgDydC8r/P6xUMFgL JeKgdoO8VMSffAHKeV81dsq19+Qjlqdu9UewU= MIME-Version: 1.0 Received: by 10.229.32.148 with SMTP id c20mr2084883qcd.52.1253859950458; Thu, 24 Sep 2009 23:25:50 -0700 (PDT) In-Reply-To: <5aaae08a0909242154i5491f925l252e98a68f536892@mail.gmail.com> References: <95139c170909232253k6a33267dt6d91f2d3e25c9a30@mail.gmail.com> <5aaae08a0909242154i5491f925l252e98a68f536892@mail.gmail.com> Date: Fri, 25 Sep 2009 14:25:50 +0800 Message-ID: <95139c170909242325i10462234ke0efa2e58498e7ee@mail.gmail.com> From: Z G To: Rick van der Zwet Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1 X-Content-Filtered-By: Mailman/MimeDel 2.1.5 Cc: freebsd-embedded@freebsd.org Subject: Re: why my nanobsd on CF boot very slowly? any advice? thanks. After I press power button, boot logo and "_" take a bit more than one minutes. then "BTX loader" is printed on screen. One nanobsd of 7.0 Release was written to CF on similar PC. It also took several minutes to boot. gaozheng 2009/9/25 Rick van der Zwet > 2009/9/24 Z G : > > I write nanobsd of FreeBSD 8.0 BETA3 to CF card. > > CF is put into one industry PC with CF slot. > > After PC is powered on, it takes a very long time to really boot. > > a) Could you give some pointers on what specific subset of the boot > process takes very long?
