It works for me on at least FreeBSD 7.2 and 8.0. Use at your own risk. For swap devices it is neccesary to label the device in order to recognize it later and that requires that swap is turned off briefly. The script requires perl to run. The script is here: http://borderworlds.dk/utils/fstab-glabel.pl Feel free to use it if you find it useful. -- Christian Laursen From owner-freebsd-geom@FreeBSD.ORG Tue Dec 29 00:43:11 2009 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-geom@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id EF0BD106568B for ; Tue, 29 Dec 2009 00:43:11 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from pieter@degoeje.nl) Received: from smtp.utwente.nl (smtp2.utsp.utwente.nl [130.89.2.9]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 98E088FC16 for ; Tue, 29 Dec 2009 00:43:13 +0000 (UTC) Received: from nox.student.utwente.nl (nox.student.utwente.nl [130.89.165.91]) by smtp.utwente.nl (8.12.10/SuSE Linux 0.7) with ESMTP id nBT0BHec011443; Tue, 29 Dec 2009 01:11:17 +0100 From: Pieter de Goeje To: freebsd-stable@freebsd.org Date: Tue, 29 Dec 2009 01:11:17 +0100 User-Agent: KMail/1.9.10 References: <4B391265.5080908@borderworlds.dk> In-Reply-To: <4B391265.5080908@borderworlds.dk> MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Content-Disposition: inline Message-Id: <200912290111.17781.pieter@degoeje.nl> Cc: Christian Laursen , freebsd-geom@freebsd.org Subject: Re: A script that modifies /etc/fstab to mount devices via glabel X-BeenThere: freebsd-geom@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: GEOM-specific discussions and implementations List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Tue, 29 Dec 2009 00:43:12 -0000 On Monday 28 December 2009 21:17:41 Christian Laursen wrote: > Hi there, > > I wrote a script that modifies fstab so that UFS filesystems are mounted > via their UFS IDs and swap partitions are labeled with glabel in order > to access them that way. > > It works for me on at least FreeBSD 7.2 and 8.0. Works as advertised, thank you! It is probably faster to extract the label from glabel status -s instead of using dumpfs though. - Pieter From owner-freebsd-geom@FreeBSD.ORG Thu Dec 31 16:54:39 2009 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-geom@hub.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id BBD8B106566B; Thu, 31 Dec 2009 16:54:39 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from linimon@FreeBSD.org) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (freefall.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::28]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 927A98FC1A; Thu, 31 Dec 2009 16:54:39 +0000 (UTC) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.14.3/8.14.3) with ESMTP id nBVGsdcR078301; Thu, 31 Dec 2009 16:54:39 GMT (envelope-from linimon@freefall.freebsd.org) Received: (from linimon@localhost) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.14.3/8.14.3/Submit) id nBVGsdnX078297; Thu, 31 Dec 2009 16:54:39 GMT (envelope-from linimon) Date: Thu, 31 Dec 2009 16:54:39 GMT Message-Id: <200912311654.nBVGsdnX078297@freefall.freebsd.org> To: linimon@FreeBSD.org, freebsd-bugs@FreeBSD.org, freebsd-geom@FreeBSD.org From: linimon@FreeBSD.org Cc: Subject: Re: kern/142174: [geom] [patch] gpart(8) fails to correctly set partition type for GPT X-BeenThere: freebsd-geom@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: GEOM-specific discussions and implementations List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Thu, 31 Dec 2009 16:54:39 -0000 Old Synopsis: gpart fails to correctly set partition type for GPT New Synopsis: [geom] [patch] gpart(8) fails to correctly set partition type for GPT Responsible-Changed-From-To: freebsd-bugs->freebsd-geom Responsible-Changed-By: linimon Responsible-Changed-When: Thu Dec 31 16:53:38 UTC 2009 Responsible-Changed-Why: Over to maintainer(s). http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/query-pr.cgi?pr=142174 From owner-freebsd-geom@FreeBSD.ORG Thu Dec 31 23:34:37 2009 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-geom@hub.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 3E46F1065679; Thu, 31 Dec 2009 23:34:37 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from dougb@FreeBSD.org) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (freefall.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::28]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 15F038FC15; Thu, 31 Dec 2009 23:34:37 +0000 (UTC) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.14.3/8.14.3) with ESMTP id nBVNYacl042724; Thu, 31 Dec 2009 23:34:36 GMT (envelope-from dougb@freefall.freebsd.org) Received: (from dougb@localhost) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.14.3/8.14.3/Submit) id nBVNYaww042720; Thu, 31 Dec 2009 23:34:36 GMT (envelope-from dougb) Date: Thu, 31 Dec 2009 23:34:36 GMT Message-Id: <200912312334.nBVNYaww042720@freefall.freebsd.org> To: coumarin@gmail.com, dougb@FreeBSD.org, freebsd-geom@FreeBSD.org, dougb@FreeBSD.org From: dougb@FreeBSD.org Cc: Subject: Re: kern/120021: [geom] [panic] net-p2p/qbittorrent crashes system when it works though OpenVPN link X-BeenThere: freebsd-geom@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: GEOM-specific discussions and implementations List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Thu, 31 Dec 2009 23:34:37 -0000 Synopsis: [geom] [panic] net-p2p/qbittorrent crashes system when it works though OpenVPN link State-Changed-From-To: open->feedback State-Changed-By: dougb State-Changed-When: Thu Dec 31 23:33:36 UTC 2009 State-Changed-Why: Does this still happen with an up to date version of qbittorrent?
