I saw you blog post [1] yesterday about banshee 1.5.0, but only realised now that it has been committed to the FreeBSD ports tree [2] after reading a message [3] on the mono@ mailing list. However, as writing in the announcement, 1.5.0 is the first beta of what will become 1.6 [4], and as you spotted out, it misses at least a working database upgrade code... For this reason, I would suggest to revert banshee to the latest stable 1.4.3 release and provide the 1.5.0 release as multimedia/banshee-devel, displaying an informational message such as the following before installing: | If you are upgrading Banshee from the 1.4.x serie, note that this BETA | version of the media player cannot handle the old database scheme and | at the time of writting, no upgrade procedure is available (this may | be fixed in a future BETA release). | After installing, remove the ~/.config/banshee-1/ directory and | re-import your music library. Please note that I have not installed 1.5.0 (Yet) so the message may have to be adjusted accordingly. Okay. We already encountered the very same problem with deskutils/tomboy and devel/monodevelop with Phillip and decided not to maintain them =AB officially =BB in the BSD# ports tree (I had them though for tests purpose). > I will revert to 1.4.3. I have just downloaded from SVN but the autotools on my systems produce a non-working configure script... Would you please tell me if you used some special environment variables or command line arguments (or maybe have something that is not that vanilla) ? As I am not using the libtool version that is provided in the FreeBSD ports tree, I am pretty sure this is what is making it fail, but before reverting to the old libtool version, I would like to have all pieces in hands. How can I help you? Hum, this page is seriously outdated and I have not finished to update it before sending it to the guys at Novell. This page may be more useful: http://code.google.com/p/bsd-sharp/wiki/Todo Depending on your interests, here are the most important tasks: - ports/134774: lang/mono won't build on 6.4-STABLE I am running 7.2-STABLE and 8-CURRENT and have definitively not enough room on my hard disks to have a 6.x system installed, and so I can't inspect this by myself; - The various tests failing in recent mono (SVN seems to not fail the same way); - Ports audit. Everything should install correctly in the default environment. But I am not sure everything is so good if you define WITHOUT_DOCS WITH_DEBUG and so on... Moreover, I am pretty sure some ports will ignore these variables and install a lot of junk even if not asked to. Of course, these are suggestions. You can propose something else! Thank you!
