Couple of questions might help things ... First, can I use oss audio at the same time that I use the regular snd_hda? There seems to be a large selection of mp3 players that want to assume I'm using oss, but seeing as the only way I'm currently playing dvd's (using vlc with the snd_hda only) isn't using oss, I don't want to use oss if it'll interfere with my spdif audio (that's very good now). Second, several different mp3 players want the name of a dvd and/or audio node in /dev/, however none of the documentation for snd_hda says anything at all about the nodename in /dev. Could someone supply that? OK, lastly, anyone who's using xine, and also using spdif output, what "driver" (xine's idea of what driver means) should I use, and is there any port I oughta use to get it to work? That question is for both video AND audio, but my video is actually working for xine already, so I'm really more interested in the audio side of that question. Thanks for the help. To see what is compiling add "--enable-shave=no" to the end of the CFLAGS line in multimedia/gstreamer-plugins/Makefile, and try again. Though I suspect there is something wrong with with your taglib. All the missing headers are installed by taglib 1.6.1. Can you check if the headers are available in /usr/local/include/taglib. And if they aren't there please rebuild audio/taglib before trying to build gst-plug-taglib again. -Koop From owner-freebsd-multimedia@FreeBSD.ORG Mon Dec 14 18:30:03 2009 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-multimedia@hub.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id BD109106566C for ; Mon, 14 Dec 2009 18:30:03 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from gnats@FreeBSD.org) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (freefall.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::28]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id AB4DC8FC26 for ; Mon, 14 Dec 2009 18:30:03 +0000 (UTC) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.14.3/8.14.3) with ESMTP id nBEIU3N5062542 for ; Mon, 14 Dec 2009 18:30:03 GMT (envelope-from gnats@freefall.freebsd.org) Received: (from gnats@localhost) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.14.3/8.14.3/Submit) id nBEIU3YP062529; Mon, 14 Dec 2009 18:30:03 GMT (envelope-from gnats) Date: Mon, 14 Dec 2009 18:30:03 GMT Message-Id: <200912141830.nBEIU3YP062529@freefall.freebsd.org> To: freebsd-multimedia@FreeBSD.org From: Kenyon Ralph Cc: Subject: Re: ports/141416: audio/gstreamer-plugins-taglib build error in gstid3v2mux.cc X-BeenThere: freebsd-multimedia@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list Reply-To: Kenyon Ralph List-Id: Multimedia discussions List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Mon, 14 Dec 2009 18:30:03 -0000 The following reply was made to PR ports/141416; it has been noted by GNATS. Thanks for the reply. /usr/local/include/taglib and its contents exist; the problem was that with ccache enabled, the -I/usr/local/include/taglib argument in CFLAGS was not present in the compilation commands. Indeed, disabling ccache via /etc/make.conf allowed gstreamer-plugins-taglib (and gstreamer-plugins-mpeg2enc) to build correctly. A quick fix would be to disable ccache for these ports in their Makefiles. Clearly, it is a "hardware" bug. Virtualbox doing slightly a better job by "clamping" the results (the lower bits written as '1') whenever there is a write attempt on 5th (or 13th) bit, but _without_ resetting those high bit. As such, it appears as a full 6-bit resolution result on the next codec read. FreeBSD try to be honest here by doing supposed to be correct calibration process and see/measure the result as is. Others probably have their own static mapping (think about vendor specific driver) or depends on whatever magic marker, etc. You have two choices: 1) Fix virtualbox ac97 codec emulation (probably not for you given the fact that your vbox runs on Windows). or 2) "Fix" FreeBSD ac97 volume resolution calibration by accepting certain lower bits magic marker, ignoring the high bit. -- Ariff Abdullah FreeBSD ... I have succesfull changed my laptop from debian to freebsd. Only one point missing, a good working app for my huge mp3 library. What i found so far: qout libet A very old port (1.x), missing some important features like dynamic playlis= ts songbird A app wich comes the best app (foobar2000) very near. Unfortunately i can= =C5=BDt get it playing any song and there is no port for it. atunes Very good so far, but some strange behaviours. One of these is that it does= n=C5=BDt show the path of any song. For example i have subfolders (checked, unchecke= d, noID), because i tag my songs with Jaikoz. When i import the songs, all son= gs where imported, but only the the path of the songs in the first folder is shown. OK, there is amarok but i don=C5=BDt want the whole kde stuff, because i am= using a minimalistic way of desktop (xfce4, mutt, etc.) So my questions: Is there any work one qout libet or songbird? Is there a w= ay or app to handle my most important feature (dynamic playlists, rating) from the console? thx Alex From owner-freebsd-multimedia@FreeBSD.ORG Sat Dec 19 16:57:22 2009 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-multimedia@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 9BBB11065679 for ; Sat, 19 Dec 2009 16:57:22 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from kerneljake@hotmail.com) Received: from col0-omc2-s8.col0.hotmail.com (col0-omc2-s8.col0.hotmail.com [65.55.34.82]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 7E26E8FC13 for ; Sat, 19 Dec 2009 16:57:22 +0000 (UTC) Received: from COL116-W9 ([65.55.34.73]) by col0-omc2-s8.col0.hotmail.com with Microsoft SMTPSVC(6.0.3790.3959); Sat, 19 Dec 2009 08:44:44 -0800 Message-ID: X-Originating-IP: [99.184.86.130] From: Kernel Jake To: Date: Sat, 19 Dec 2009 10:44:44 -0600 Importance: Normal MIME-Version: 1.0 X-OriginalArrivalTime: 19 Dec 2009 16:44:44.0928 (UTC) FILETIME=[91AD4000:01CA80CA] Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable X-Content-Filtered-By: Mailman/MimeDel 2.1.5 Subject: sox in freebsd 8.0 X-BeenThere: freebsd-multimedia@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: Multimedia discussions List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Sat, 19 Dec 2009 16:57:22 -0000 I recently upgraded from 6.2 to 8.0-RELEASE.
