(it seems not to have such driver available in 8.X.) Alternatively, would there be a workaround to apply for using this card with FreeBSD 8 ? Thanks! Andriy, This was a valid issue not related to amd64 (it should have been filed under bin instead) in particular because the end-user chose to install with WITHOUT_OPENSSL defined in src.conf and hastd requires openssl to compile (and I assume link and run). Should openssl from ports be picked up instead of system if openssl from base isn't installed? Probably not a good assumption to make given the version differences between ports and base today, but if the user chose to do so, that could have been customized using /etc/make.conf or /etc/src.conf to intelligently include /usr/local/include in CFLAGS and /usr/local/lib in LDFLAGS if building world. However, it's unsupported in my book and he'd be stuck trying to figure out where any issues occurred and maybe he could get some assistance from helpful developers who maintain pieces that would break from this, but I wouldn't assume that to be the case. On the bright side of things, I forwarded the email to Pawel and he was very responsive and committed a fix to HEAD for the PR (cheers Pawel :)!). What I wanted to say is that when you want to achieve something specific - just tell us what you want. Piling up some facts in a PR without explaining what you want to do is not the best way to get things resolved and is a waste of developer's time. -- Andriy Gapon From owner-freebsd-amd64@FreeBSD.ORG Fri Apr 23 07:34:47 2010 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-amd64@hub.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id A56D6106566C; Fri, 23 Apr 2010 07:34:47 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from brucec@FreeBSD.org) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (freefall.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::28]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 7C9888FC1C; Fri, 23 Apr 2010 07:34:47 +0000 (UTC) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.14.4/8.14.4) with ESMTP id o3N7YljE090899; Fri, 23 Apr 2010 07:34:47 GMT (envelope-from brucec@freefall.freebsd.org) Received: (from brucec@localhost) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.14.4/8.14.4/Submit) id o3N7YlVq090895; Fri, 23 Apr 2010 07:34:47 GMT (envelope-from brucec) Date: Fri, 23 Apr 2010 07:34:47 GMT Message-Id: <201004230734.o3N7YlVq090895@freefall.freebsd.org> To: kvtvzlri@aldwheoh.com, brucec@FreeBSD.org, freebsd-amd64@FreeBSD.org From: brucec@FreeBSD.org X-Mailman-Approved-At: Fri, 23 Apr 2010 11:40:31 +0000 Cc: Subject: Re: junk/145983: erjeqkfz X-BeenThere: freebsd-amd64@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: Porting FreeBSD to the AMD64 platform List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Fri, 23 Apr 2010 07:34:47 -0000 Synopsis: erjeqkfz State-Changed-From-To: open->closed State-Changed-By: brucec State-Changed-When: Fri Apr 23 07:34:34 UTC 2010 State-Changed-Why: spam http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/query-pr.cgi?pr=145983 From owner-freebsd-amd64@FreeBSD.ORG Fri Apr 23 07:35:10 2010 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-amd64@hub.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id B19AC1065670; Fri, 23 Apr 2010 07:35:10 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from brucec@FreeBSD.org) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (freefall.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::28]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 89A398FC1C; Fri, 23 Apr 2010 07:35:10 +0000 (UTC) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.14.4/8.14.4) with ESMTP id o3N7ZAvL090945; Fri, 23 Apr 2010 07:35:10 GMT (envelope-from brucec@freefall.freebsd.org) Received: (from brucec@localhost) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.14.4/8.14.4/Submit) id o3N7ZAKh090941; Fri, 23 Apr 2010 07:35:10 GMT (envelope-from brucec) Date: Fri, 23 Apr 2010 07:35:10 GMT Message-Id: <201004230735.o3N7ZAKh090941@freefall.freebsd.org> To: zxuuzfko@whskesay.com, brucec@FreeBSD.org, freebsd-amd64@FreeBSD.org From: brucec@FreeBSD.org X-Mailman-Approved-At: Fri, 23 Apr 2010 11:40:40 +0000 Cc: Subject: Re: junk/145975: mvijgtfq X-BeenThere: freebsd-amd64@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: Porting FreeBSD to the AMD64 platform List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Fri, 23 Apr 2010 07:35:10 -0000 Synopsis: mvijgtfq State-Changed-From-To: open->closed State-Changed-By: brucec State-Changed-When: Fri Apr 23 07:34:57 UTC 2010 State-Changed-Why: spam http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/query-pr.cgi?pr=145975 From owner-freebsd-amd64@FreeBSD.ORG Fri Apr 23 17:15:57 2010 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-amd64@hub.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id BC238106567C for ; Fri, 23 Apr 2010 17:15:57 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from gnats@FreeBSD.org) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (freefall.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::28]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 771EB8FC1E for ; Fri, 23 Apr 2010 17:15:57 +0000 (UTC) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.14.4/8.14.4) with ESMTP id o3NHFvgm083848 for ; Fri, 23 Apr 2010 17:15:57 GMT (envelope-from gnats@freefall.freebsd.org) Received: (from gnats@localhost) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.14.4/8.14.4/Submit) id o3NHFvfC083847; Fri, 23 Apr 2010 17:15:57 GMT (envelope-from gnats) Resent-Date: Fri, 23 Apr 2010 17:15:57 GMT Resent-Message-Id: <201004231715.o3NHFvfC083847@freefall.freebsd.org> Resent-From: FreeBSD-gnats-submit@FreeBSD.org (GNATS Filer) Resent-To: freebsd-amd64@FreeBSD.org Resent-Reply-To: FreeBSD-gnats-submit@FreeBSD.org, "Julian H.
