http://www.freebsd.org/doc/en_US.ISO8859-1/books/handbook/serial.html does =
not
mention the new serial port device naming introduced recently (i.e. uart, t=
tyu,
cuau). Section 26.2.2.2.2 Port Names is where these names are first mentio=
ned.=20
I skipped version 7, so don't know if a global replace is appropriate of if=
both
old and new names need to be mentioned until 7 is EOL.
Section 26.3.1.2 PCs Acting as Terminals mentions cu(1) and tip(1), but omi=
t any
mention of what is needed to get them to work for normal users. It looks l=
ike
two options are adding authorized users to the dialer group, or making cu(1=
) and
tip(1) setguid dialer to enable use for all users. Might be worth adding t=
his to
the man pages as well as the handbook.

I have set upp aggregation of my wlan and and wired NIC following the
instructions in the handbook.
http://www.freebsd.org/doc/handbook/network-aggregation.html
I "forgot" to add the if_lagg_load="YES" in /boot/loader.conf. When I
rebooted I got a kernel panic.
Should this be considerd normal or is it something I should report?
Secondly I see there'a a reference to the lagg(4) man page. I think it
would help future readers of the above page if a comment about loading
if_lagg_load="YES" in /boot/loader.conf would be added.
/Leslie

Hello, freebsd-doc.
There is a word 'alias' mentioned in
http://www.freebsd.org/doc/en_US.ISO8859-1/articles/pr-guidelines/article.html
(for instance, look for "Table 3. Common Assignees -- base system", last
column).
While it's not explained within the article, could anyone clarify here
what kind of alias is that? Alias to/for what?

Best regards,
Taras Korenko

It's an e-mail alias that expands out to a list of the people who would
be interested in the problem. The essential difference between 'alias'
and 'mailing list' is that anyone can subscribe to a mailing list at
will: modifying an alias needs the good offices of postmaster@... or
someone else with appropriate administrative privileges.
Cheers,
Matthew

>Description:
Section 30.5.8 of the Handbook states:
If the packet is a TCP packet, there will be an additional field starting with a hyphen followed by letters corresponding to any flags that were set. See the ipmon(8) manual page for a list of letters and their flags.
However, ipmon(8) directs the user to ipf.conf(5), so let's reference
that directly instead.

Handbook section 18.16.1 Disk Encryption with gbde. Starts off with these two itens.
2. Add gbde(4) Support to the Kernel Configuration File
Add the following line to the kernel configuration file:
options GEOM_BDE
Rebuild the kernel as described in Chapter 8.
Reboot into the new kernel.
3. An alternative to recompiling the kernel is to use kldload to load gbde(4):
# kldload geom_bde
***Items 2 & 3 can be deleted as gbde is now part of the base release ****
The newfs -U -O2 /dev/ad4s1c.bde command is incorrect in item number
5. Create a File System on the Encrypted Device. It should be replaced with this
newfs -U -O2 -o space /dev/ad4s1c.bde command where -O2 is a uppercase O and -o space is an lower case o. Point out the uppercase lowercase usage because its impossible to tell from command as shown in handbook.
Also the content of man gbde needs updating to remove all reference to experimental code.
Section 18.16.2 Disk Encryption with geli item (1. Adding geli Support to the Kernel) can be removed because geli is now part of the base release.
