For installations that keep their latest sources in /usr/src, this patch should have no effect; however, for others (such as pointyhat, which has multiple src trees) this should fix edge conditions with 'make describe'. I guess that it would have about the same dependencies as the browser plugin. The player can be downloaded from here: http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html The specific link for version 10: http://download.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/updaters/10/flashplayer_10_sa.tar.gz The tar.gz file actually contains only one file, which is the player executable itself. With the flash plugin already installed, I unpacked the file and the player just worked. P.S. I need it for some educational software that is written in flash for some reason. -- Andriy Gapon From owner-freebsd-emulation@FreeBSD.ORG Wed Dec 1 12:22:47 2010 Return-Path: Delivered-To: emulation@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 80C34106564A for ; Wed, 1 Dec 2010 12:22:47 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from alexander@leidinger.net) Received: from mail.ebusiness-leidinger.de (mail.ebusiness-leidinger.de [217.11.53.44]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 28BFA8FC12 for ; Wed, 1 Dec 2010 12:22:46 +0000 (UTC) Received: from outgoing.leidinger.net (p57B3A571.dip.t-dialin.net [87.179.165.113]) by mail.ebusiness-leidinger.de (Postfix) with ESMTPSA id 32DBB844012; Wed, 1 Dec 2010 13:22:42 +0100 (CET) Received: from webmail.leidinger.net (unknown [IPv6:fd73:10c7:2053:1::2:102]) by outgoing.leidinger.net (Postfix) with ESMTP id C79C6111E; Wed, 1 Dec 2010 13:22:36 +0100 (CET) Received: (from www@localhost) by webmail.leidinger.net (8.14.4/8.13.8/Submit) id oB1CMLJA034484; Wed, 1 Dec 2010 13:22:21 +0100 (CET) (envelope-from Alexander@Leidinger.net) Received: from pslux.ec.europa.eu (pslux.ec.europa.eu [158.169.9.14]) by webmail.leidinger.net (Horde Framework) with HTTP; Wed, 01 Dec 2010 13:22:20 +0100 Message-ID: <20101201132220.790748omutg2pp6o@webmail.leidinger.net> Date: Wed, 01 Dec 2010 13:22:20 +0100 From: Alexander Leidinger To: Mark Linimon References: <20101130192314.GB28560@lonesome.com> In-Reply-To: <20101130192314.GB28560@lonesome.com> MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8; DelSp="Yes"; format="flowed" Content-Disposition: inline Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit User-Agent: Dynamic Internet Messaging Program (DIMP) H3 (1.1.4) X-EBL-MailScanner-Information: Please contact the ISP for more information X-EBL-MailScanner-ID: 32DBB844012.A31FB X-EBL-MailScanner: Found to be clean X-EBL-MailScanner-SpamCheck: not spam, spamhaus-ZEN, SpamAssassin (not cached, score=2.894, required 6, autolearn=disabled, RDNS_NONE 1.27, SARE_UNSUB20 1.54, TW_FN 0.08) X-EBL-MailScanner-SpamScore: ss X-EBL-MailScanner-From: alexander@leidinger.net X-EBL-MailScanner-Watermark: 1291810962.55348@iB0Bwx0eWFuZEyvnAL1krw X-EBL-Spam-Status: No Cc: emulation@freebsd.org Subject: Re: fwd: CFR: patch to cleanup usage of SRC_BASE in various ports X-BeenThere: freebsd-emulation@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: Development of Emulators of other operating systems List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Wed, 01 Dec 2010 12:22:47 -0000 Quoting Mark Linimon (from Tue, 30 Nov 2010 19:23:14 +0000): > Forwarded individually from a message initially posted to > freebsd-ports@FreeBSD.org. Note: the patch has been updated from the > version first uploaded. Hi, for the linux ports the SRC part looks OK (not tested). For the ifndef part (linux ports)... this introduces the possibility to let the user specify LINUX_OSRELEASE somewhere. And this would override what would be set in the makefile. The result of this would be that the user could spoof a version which is different from what is available. In case of the "is the linuxulator in the kernel"-test, it would cause a failure of the build/install of the port if the user has a value set. This could open up a new case of error cases in the support mails. If you have a strong argument for this change, I do not object to it, but if you do not have a strong argument, I would prefer to not get this change. The problem I have is that I want pointyhat to build an INDEX based on what is the current "best recommended value" of the linux emulation, not whatever happens to be on pointyhat at the moment. (It turns out that right now this "Just Works" on pointyhat but only so; it does not work on the new codebase on pointyhat-west, where a very minimal subset of ports is installed). Just setting LINUX_OSRELEASE at the top level didn't seem to work; it appears the != line overrides that setting. How about this?
