Following a clue with this post: http://forums.freebsd.org/showthread.php?t=19118 That link to a bug report on Solaris: https://defect.opensolaris.org/bz/show_bug.cgi?id=16320 I just moved the "patch-stickynotes_stickynotes.ui" away from the "files" directory and recompiled everything. (removing the file should be fine too) And it fixed the problem! Now I can configure the default size that was stuck at 0 width and height, and create new sticky notes. That was one of the main feature I used that suddenly didn't work since a few month ago and was quite sad it didn't work since a lot of report on other distro would say the bug was fixed.
