Limewire has not been running in my systems for ages. Go with gtk-gnutella.
BTW what does limewire have to do with /usr/ports/net-p2p/ktorrent-devel di=
rectory?:)
Anyway, running limewire (and such other similar tools) as root is not a go=
od idea.

Limewire has not been running in my systems for ages. Go with gtk-gnutella.
BTW what does limewire have to do with /usr/ports/net-p2p/ktorrent-devel di=
rectory?:)
Anyway, running limewire (and such other similar tools) as root is not a go=
od idea.

This crash is not limited to Limewire, running the SwingSet2.jar
sample from the JDK crashes the same splashscreen library too.

I just copied that from the terminal emulator, i always seem to have quite =
a
few terminals open and working on them, that one had just installed
ktorrent. I use Frostwire, but it's just strange to me that Limewire won't
work because it did work for me just a while back on FreeBSD 7-RELEASE (I'm
on 8-CURRENT). Does anyone think this could be related to the options i
enabled when building java?

So, which one are you using? diablo-jdk16 with FreeBSD7 emulation? or the c=
ompiled version jdk16?
That said, you should *definitely* try /usr/ports/java/openjdk6 ppl here (G=
reg) say its the way to go in the future.
(so all debugging/testing/work should be done on openjdk)

When I built java/jdk16, it also installed diablo-jdk16? So that's what I'm
using. I haven't tried it with linux ABI support yet or openjdk, how is it
working for you? I don't use a huge number of java apps, but I do need it
for some java web applets (I use Opera)... Is it as capable as sun's native
java?

Btw I meanwhile found a kind of `workaround' until we have a new sun jdk
or icedtea port: konqueror (both the kde3 and the kde4 versions) runs
java applets via a normal `java' executable (and apparently its own ipc
wrapper code), so it doesn't need a plugin. And this also means it
even works with openjdk7 (and linux-sun-jdk in a native browser), at
least it did for me doing a simple test on
	http://spaceflight1.nasa.gov/realdata/tracking/index.html
after setting either JAVA_HOME or configuring a full path in
settings -> konqueror -> java and javascript -> path to java executable.

All of these worked for me:

zsh triton8% ll /usr/local/*/bin/java
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root wheel 95014 May 13 2008 /usr/local/diablo-jdk1.6.0/bin/java*
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root wheel 47308 Oct 11 10:40 /usr/local/linux-sun-jdk1.6.0/bin/java*
-r-xr-xr-x 1 root wheel 60214 Feb 13 06:15 /usr/local/openjdk7/bin/java*
zsh triton8%

Synopsis: jce-aba port should install to $JAVA_HOME/jre/lib/ext

State-Changed-From-To: suspended->closed
State-Changed-By: glewis
State-Changed-When: Sat Feb 27 06:19:37 UTC 2010
State-Changed-Why:
I see no reason to keep this PR lingering. We've been using JAVAJARDIR for
5+ years now as the place where ports install JARs on FreeBSD. The reasons
for deciding to do so then still hold now and I don't believe there is any
chance we'd ever switch to the installation policy advocated in this PR for
those very same reasons.

Another option is to install www/seamonkey2 which still uses a gecko vers=
ion compatible with the plugins available on FreeBSD (diablo/sun).
At least until it will get a new gecko version.
