I've imported 2.4.6 (ports-mgmt/portupgrade) and 20091221 (ports-mgmt/portupgrade-devel) in. I've tagged them. I've also dropped 1.8.6 ruby support from the comments. I assigned all 29 ports PRs relating to the 2 of them to myself. The 1st thing I want to do is suggest that we update ports-mgmt/portupgrade to ports-mgmt/portupgrade-devel and rmport the latter. Once that happens I'll start looking through the PRs and applying the ones with patches. I should then be able to present a 2.5.0 test candidate. Once tested we'll update the port. That should leave the prs without patches. And we'll deal with that then. Having said all this, I've absolutely 0 desire to maintain portupgrade. Once we get this far, unless I'm out-right veto'd I'm going to reset MAINTAINER from ruby@ to ports@. If someone does veto me, I'll ask portmgr@ to support b/c I know its not being cared for with ruby@ which is all of 4 people. What we should really do is figure out how to consolidate to portmaster since that is *very* well maintained and drop this time suck. P.S. No offense to the authors, I used portupgrade for quite sometime successfully before switching to my Tinderbox setup. - -- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ 1024D/DB9B8C1C B90B FBC3 A3A1 C71A 8E70 3F8C 75B8 8FFB DB9B 8C1C Philip M. This place is exactly where portupgrade-devel comes from. Feel free to submit your patches/echancements. But, please, do not commit PRs blindly, most of them require a lot of thought and work. I committed all the low-hanging fruit before. Saying this, I'm absolutely against passing the port to ports@. The reason it's assigned on ruby@ and not ports@ is that we don't want random people committing to this port thus possibly destabilizing the important tool. --=20 Stanislav Sedov ST4096-RIPE --Signature=_Mon__13_Sep_2010_17_38_04_-0700_jijMM04ARKMRIdiB Content-Type: application/pgp-signature -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- iQIcBAEBAgAGBQJMjsPwAAoJEL8lojEJL9nwkvMQALJnLAv6a5RI6JAyTMJGdXTW SUhmIDDK25sp9Csw9n9PFwU4OyMxfY+lklhTu65gesl5h53D8Ji4kjeYWE8BxMmk fEggT+QFQdmP7zBh1cQo9fj71NE9qZ7Zoq1mtvkU9OXHq/FZFySgLfFy3UksfkYt OgSrTW7BIpdhoqbPd6sARM2j09PLotV+6Y4ShJzI/sLcgghV3JD+svMgwKBut5V+ UKs90NR7ocmH4o2C5k+ai4nipgJSlXc0bG9RSxPkrDzaVBJzKdsyuGU9v9pD/2nH eF5HGfuwC9x/fUG59uryOUO5G8TOz0PW8K7unM+7tYGwjrmmvQl5o8ShB4Haq66z vyj2sV9v4ac6u19bR46YG0YSEEfK2sK4jlhbA8IFs7ePPhao3HU/glRuCjAb1rkJ YfhSujtV1Z/3V7E/EN5MG9u7qDVQqL8cyD32aWa6Dcsijika3j0MBwJ7IuzZgkG+ U5eLhwKa2/mhHCZZFyNLJ8mxA7C/mtzXvxRpG65yjSCuVBcXpJHd1yAa8+89j8wm SX6WvDn2+VAl17I8z+nh3X3MVlAemzQpB/zkBHqQxaSsZsAOxhfwhF0G2dodaGzg HH35NDqqCTAQgRDNWsaxrSz32HFR7F+hKNohuYwbnhooYWmtjtciZPhqH+WBVcCU 1oU1KbfyZStxDr5N/jr5 =T8ig -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- --Signature=_Mon__13_Sep_2010_17_38_04_-0700_jijMM04ARKMRIdiB-- From owner-freebsd-ruby@FreeBSD.ORG Tue Sep 14 05:20:05 2010 Return-Path: Delivered-To: ruby@FreeBSD.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 122081065672; Tue, 14 Sep 2010 05:20:05 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from pgollucci@p6m7g8.com) Received: from cell.p6m7g8.net (static-71-178-236-107.washdc.fios.verizon.net [71.178.236.107]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id BDAB08FC0A; Tue, 14 Sep 2010 05:20:04 +0000 (UTC) Received: from philip.hq.rws (wsip-174-79-184-239.dc.dc.cox.net [174.79.184.239]) (authenticated bits=0) by cell.p6m7g8.net (8.14.4/8.14.3) with ESMTP id o8E5JxQW046696 (version=TLSv1/SSLv3 cipher=DHE-DSS-CAMELLIA256-SHA bits=256 verify=NO); Tue, 14 Sep 2010 05:19:59 GMT (envelope-from pgollucci@p6m7g8.com) Message-ID: <4C8F05FF.7060309@p6m7g8.com> Date: Tue, 14 Sep 2010 05:19:59 +0000 From: "Philip M. Oh please, not another hollow alias. Since you asked for portmgr's opinion by Ccing this mail... I personally think the maintainer field should read 'stas' and patches should be gated through him. The main thing for me is that the PRs ought to be assigned somewhere. If no one has time to go through them, let's just reassign them to ports@. (Yes, I understand that portupgrade PRs are a total pain in the butt: a combination of problems that may affect many users; problems that only affect edge conditions; and problems where the port metadata itself is at fault, not portupgrade. Nevertheless, if no one is going to work on them, assigning them to ruby@ merely misleads our users.) I was never a fan of it being assigned to ruby@, since I'm not much of a fan of assigning ports to mailing lists anyways. The nicest way to put it is that the results are "mixed". stas, who else other than yourself is working on it? Do we really think it has a future? Sadly, the instant I attempt to access or start an app (a simple Rack app), the Passenger helper agent core dumps. I'd had success running Passenger 3.0.0.pre1 on a different FreeBSD 8.1 system under Ruby 1.9.1. It is possible this could be a FreeBSD Ruby 1.9.2 issue? It's crashing on Ruby 1.9.1,1. Typo on my part. Sorry. So it is NOT a 1.9.2 issue. I suspect it's got to be a Phusion Passenger beta issue specific to my configuration. I've got to figure out what's different on the host where my app works and the host where it's crashing. Thanks, Aaron out.
