But as the original > reporter of the PR I don't have the authority to make that change. Dear "Fbsd1" (Joe Barbish?), Hans meant that this is not an issue with USB kernel driver and he is totally correct. usb@ assignment is for bugs with kernel USB driver only. BTW, bootloader doesn't have any explicit knowledge of USB either, it uses BIOS interface and depends on BIOS USB emulation. I think that Hans can't change the PR assignment. Hi, Have you tried FreeBSD 8-stable? So help us help you. http://www.freebsd.org/doc/en/articles/problem-reports/article.html Section 4.4. Filling out the template: - If a problem is with the kernel, the libraries (such as standard C library libc), or a peripheral driver in the base system, in general you will use the kern category. (There are a few exceptions; see below). In general these are things that are described in section 2, 3, or 4 of the manual pages. - If the problem would otherwise be filed in kern but has to do with the USB subsystem, the correct choice is usb. I think that that article should be made more prominent. -- Andriy Gapon From owner-freebsd-usb@FreeBSD.ORG Thu Mar 11 01:00:10 2010 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-usb@hub.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 27CD8106566B for ; Thu, 11 Mar 2010 01:00:10 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from gnats@FreeBSD.org) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (freefall.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::28]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id E7E048FC1C for ; Thu, 11 Mar 2010 01:00:09 +0000 (UTC) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.14.4/8.14.4) with ESMTP id o2B109Cf045771 for ; Thu, 11 Mar 2010 01:00:09 GMT (envelope-from gnats@freefall.freebsd.org) Received: (from gnats@localhost) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.14.4/8.14.4/Submit) id o2B109kQ045770; Thu, 11 Mar 2010 01:00:09 GMT (envelope-from gnats) Date: Thu, 11 Mar 2010 01:00:09 GMT Message-Id: <201003110100.o2B109kQ045770@freefall.freebsd.org> To: freebsd-usb@FreeBSD.org From: "doverosx@gmail.com" Cc: Subject: Re: usb/142276: [umass] [usb8] Cache Synchronization Error with Olympus FE210 Camera X-BeenThere: freebsd-usb@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list Reply-To: "doverosx@gmail.com" List-Id: FreeBSD support for USB List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Thu, 11 Mar 2010 01:00:10 -0000 The following reply was made to PR usb/142276; it has been noted by GNATS. Well, the kvm switches I use still has ps/2 ports. Therefore I use adapters that plug into a usb port and gives me two ps/2 ports. Like the Slim USB 2.0 to PS/2 Adapter Dongle (sku 1440)[1] from DX. I generally only use one port on these - for a mouse. On a Asus V7-P7H55E[2] it works nicely. Detection in dmesg looks like this: Mar 13 17:13:08 kg-v7 kernel: ugen1.4: at usbus1 Mar 13 17:13:08 kg-v7 kernel: ukbd1: on usbus1 Mar 13 17:13:08 kg-v7 kernel: kbd3 at ukbd1 Mar 13 17:13:08 kg-v7 kernel: ums1: on usbus1 Mar 13 17:13:08 kg-v7 kernel: ums1: 5 buttons and [XYZ] coordinates ID=1 The machine runs FreeBSD 8.0-stable / amd64: root@kg-v7# uname -a FreeBSD kg-v7.kg4.no 8.0-STABLE FreeBSD 8.0-STABLE #1: Fri Mar 12 19:56:45 CET 2010 root@kg-v7.kg4.no:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/GENERIC amd64 But on a Gigabyte GA-MA74GM-S2H[3] it doesn't work, even if detection looks similar: Mar 13 17:43:06 kg-f2 kernel: ugen0.2: at usbus0 Mar 13 17:43:06 kg-f2 kernel: ukbd0: on usbus0 Mar 13 17:43:06 kg-f2 kernel: kbd2 at ukbd0 Mar 13 17:43:06 kg-f2 kernel: ums0: on usbus0 Mar 13 17:43:06 kg-f2 kernel: ums0: 5 buttons and [XYZ] coordinates ID=1 This machine also runs FreeBSD 8.0-stable / amd64: root@kg-f2# uname -a FreeBSD kg-f2.kg4.no 8.0-STABLE FreeBSD 8.0-STABLE #3: Fri Mar 5 18:16:51 CET 2010 root@kg-f2.kg4.no:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/GENERIC amd64 One machine has an Intel usb chipset, and the other an ATI usb chipset, but shouldn't it work anyway?
