Thanks to Bruno Schwander for finally getting me hardware to complete this. In the process, I broke the nouveau build, a new patch is available at: http://people.freebsd.org/~rnoland/drm-nouveau-20100201.patch I'll break it again soon, when I commit the reworked mapping code and rewritten scatter gather memory code, but I already have patches for that as well. robert. -- Robert Noland FreeBSD From owner-freebsd-x11@FreeBSD.ORG Mon Feb 1 21:16:12 2010 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-x11@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 804F4106566B; Mon, 1 Feb 2010 21:16:12 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from rbgarga@gmail.com) Received: from ey-out-2122.google.com (ey-out-2122.google.com [74.125.78.26]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id E3F468FC0C; Mon, 1 Feb 2010 21:16:11 +0000 (UTC) Received: by ey-out-2122.google.com with SMTP id 22so1176398eye.9 for ; Mon, 01 Feb 2010 13:16:10 -0800 (PST) DKIM-Signature: v=1; a=rsa-sha256; c=relaxed/relaxed; d=gmail.com; s=gamma; h=domainkey-signature:mime-version:received:in-reply-to:references :from:date:message-id:subject:to:cc:content-type :content-transfer-encoding; bh=f6v3nFw07zcQ1tYUhNZB0r2wz7CWtQ7xqSq/9B8gSac=; b=v6PkjFMio6DTZq7U1xMhJhPMrN45960Q4lyzAVXhdSHIhr1g8d/qlpnXYhuf551Iyw ZB1YbUVYmuJjxJZLW6mHEcAEt0UmgQfkZooSRd1fOeexcHlsV7W7EyBYF+utsbYuBTgu 96C/sUwV/pGz/0L5knz+UE3Gv4Qph3VuiS57A= DomainKey-Signature: a=rsa-sha1; c=nofws; d=gmail.com; s=gamma; h=mime-version:in-reply-to:references:from:date:message-id:subject:to :cc:content-type:content-transfer-encoding; b=YfN/RXU01JRQZHPclvIqEkg1e2s6GxL+UtXJbOA2OmTOmVMRJxWhgJYA143fQVN0wY +M4TxtfU15YS09vNU+SVKASQ1uwvjLwxb0EcrA0XaTKFlE3j4q58g2SK6vTxpiL8xgyE SINtbBBQXCrEJw2hEzlniVdHH1KsOYxfPQPF0= MIME-Version: 1.0 Received: by 10.216.90.67 with SMTP id d45mr3249513wef.42.1265057602121; Mon, 01 Feb 2010 12:53:22 -0800 (PST) In-Reply-To: <1265022563.2869.80.camel@balrog.2hip.net> References: <1265022563.2869.80.camel@balrog.2hip.net> From: Renato Botelho Date: Mon, 1 Feb 2010 18:53:02 -0200 Message-ID: <747dc8f31002011253u7dadfa58iaba0d03c4d88d363@mail.gmail.com> To: Robert Noland Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1 Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable Cc: freebsd-x11 , bruno schwander Subject: Re: HEADS-UP: via drm and nouveau X-BeenThere: freebsd-x11@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: X11 on FreeBSD -- maintaining and support List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Mon, 01 Feb 2010 21:16:12 -0000 On Mon, Feb 1, 2010 at 9:09 AM, Robert Noland wrote: > I committed support for VIA unichrome chips yesterday, finally. =A0Thanks > to Bruno Schwander for finally getting me hardware to complete this. However I do not feel this is a security issue within FreeBSD. X, where the display is being set, is reponsible for sharing the desktop etc. ffmpeg is an additional third party port that has access to this. It might be best to ask around on the ports@ mailinglist or even x11@ (might be better now that I think of it) on how to tune down display access from local users.
