Hope you know about that !! I have tried the FreeBSD-8.2-RELEASE-amd64-disc1.iso and FreeBSD-8.2-RELEASE-amd64-dvd1.iso both have unsuccessful installation results I have tried installation a couple of times. The dvd works great and shows all the options. I have tried the installations with standard, Express and custom installation options. I am choosing to install it in entire disk. Then under "Install Boot Manager for drive ad0?" I have tried it a couple of times with all the three options> But none of them works Under Label : I have chosen "Auto Defaults". Under Distributions i have chosen: "Developer", "Kern-Developer" and "User" Media type: CD/DVD and then i click commit Everything works up till here: Then it shows the progress bar, Message : "Extracting base into / directory". In the end this message is shown: ============================================== Message Write Failure on transfer! (wrote -1 bytes of 1425408 bytes) (100%) ============================================== Now if it goes back to the same screen where it says : "Choose custom installation options" It is this time that i got this error!! Earlier it was once when the write was successful and then i rebooted the machine but that time it was giving strange error after the reboot saying that there are no Boot manager >How-To-Repeat: Please install the latest version of freebsd on and over Hyper-V on windows 2008 R2 as guests I have tried to install version 7 over hyper-V and it goes all fine and then it reboots well , but there is another problem there : I am unable to do "startx" Plz help me because i am a freeBSD fan and i want to use this Operation system as my base (host) Os in future : Like using it with xen Please help me so that i can try my hands on FreeBSD >Fix: I think that FreeBSD is not able to write the boot partitions onto the disk or not even anything at all >Release-Note: >Audit-Trail: >Unformatted: From owner-freebsd-amd64@FreeBSD.ORG Sat Nov 5 23:28:06 2011 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-amd64@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 68EB9106566B for ; Sat, 5 Nov 2011 23:28:06 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from ebhakt@gmail.com) Received: from mail-gx0-f182.google.com (mail-gx0-f182.google.com [209.85.161.182]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 23D668FC22 for ; Sat, 5 Nov 2011 23:28:06 +0000 (UTC) Received: by ggnk3 with SMTP id k3so3214645ggn.13 for ; Sat, 05 Nov 2011 16:28:05 -0700 (PDT) DKIM-Signature: v=1; a=rsa-sha256; c=relaxed/relaxed; d=gmail.com; s=gamma; h=mime-version:date:message-id:subject:from:to:content-type; bh=Djst83OlN2lDtOs9TTkpKZwYFGl/+2cjOJxtxyzaGiI=; b=ZaGkzWk59wJrywPeY2WIlVLeTLtIDc/alb7DmFntZk6jrjuOybCxR/QyXiLCjN1Hba J7xZLVYEPI0EBW2bRo0Byog3nD+aHw6Vm0wDEbxhNfCutXJIzPlFEpWhAoVU86up7gWE mhWhiaYydpBl1+Gf9dPDuENScfPcfejBAjSos= Received: by 10.236.179.105 with SMTP id g69mr25784409yhm.130.1320534003273; Sat, 05 Nov 2011 16:00:03 -0700 (PDT) Received: from mail-gy0-f182.google.com (mail-gy0-f182.google.com [209.85.160.182]) by mx.google.com with ESMTPS id w69sm21503632yhl.15.2011.11.05.16.00.00 (version=SSLv3 cipher=OTHER); Sat, 05 Nov 2011 16:00:01 -0700 (PDT) Received: by gyd5 with SMTP id 5so3893191gyd.13 for ; Sat, 05 Nov 2011 16:00:00 -0700 (PDT) MIME-Version: 1.0 Received: by 10.236.114.195 with SMTP id c43mr27882800yhh.12.1320534000482; Sat, 05 Nov 2011 16:00:00 -0700 (PDT) Received: by 10.236.69.193 with HTTP; Sat, 5 Nov 2011 16:00:00 -0700 (PDT) Date: Sun, 6 Nov 2011 04:30:00 +0530 Message-ID: From: ebhakt To: freebsd-amd64@freebsd.org Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1 X-Content-Filtered-By: Mailman/MimeDel 2.1.5 Subject: if anybody could help !!?
