Hi,

since chromium 9 has reached it end-of-life and has security problems
[1], I merged the chromium-beta port into the chromium port (they remain
equal until Google decides to release a new beta version). This
unfortunately means that the chromium port is now broken (see ticket
#7). Feel free to fix this if I'm not fast enough ;)

Regards,
René

Don't people use node.js on FreeBSD? I am surprised v8 doesn't work
without any modifications.

There is indeed a node.js package on FreeBSD (as www/node). But I don't
see how this would solve the build problem in the ticket? The TryLock()
function would still be undefined.

Hi list,

With this commit [1] I just made you all maintainer of the chromium
ports (www/chromium, www/chromium-beta, www/chromium-devel). I felt that
this way more justice would be done to the various contributors on this
list. It also has the benefit that all messages go here instead of to me
first, which happened occasionally.

Regards,
René

Hmm, are you sure you have the latest SVN revision (currently 113) ?
The proxy_config_service_linux.cc file was dropped after revision 105.

On my 9.0-amd64 laptop with 4 GB of RAM I get (partially translated from

Ok, i have good news and bad news.

The good news are that finally i was able to compile chromium, many
patches are needed. On amd64 mksnapshot from v8 fails with a stack
overflow, this is was an upstream bug in v8 and it was fixed 2-3 days
ago.
I have a patch that back-ports the fix, on i386 this issue does not
exist but even without the v8 many patches are needed, I've spend 3
days fixing compile errors and then.. link errors at chrome binary :p

Please do not spend time reinventing my patches, i will post them as
soon as i feel that they are in good shape.

Now the bad news are that chrome renders white pages (they do not time
out)... So we have more work to do.

What hardware/architecture are you building this on? You don't seem to
get the out-of-memory error I reported earlier in the thread (but then
the 8 GB of swap space on my laptop isn't even touched). Maybe that
error is specific to 9.0 or amd64.

The Xlib.h and keysym.h were indeed missing in the dependency list
(added in r115), /usr/local/include/X11/extensions/XTest.h should be
present in libXtst-1.1.0

This is an artifact of the build system where it tries do build some

amd64, 8G ram, no swap device.
recently I downgraded from 9.0 to 8.2 stable.
