In the chapter on automated creation of pkg-plist [2] substitution is performed using the sh-ism $() -- something I as a tcsh user find very frustrating when copy/pasting the commands -- bear in mind that the default root shell is /bin/csh [3]. The patch at [4] changes the $(make -V PORTNAME) etc to more compatible `make -V PORTNAME`. If any clarification on backticks is needed in the text I'll be happy to oblige. Any complaints?
