For example, to rebuild devel/gvfs, I had to add: -I${LOCALBASE}/include/libsoup-2.4 -I${LOCALBASE}/include/libsoup-gnome-2.4 - I${LOCALBASE}/include/libxml2 to CONFIGURE_ENV in Makefile because libsoup/soup.h libxml/parser.h and others weren't found during the build. I can understand that this is not the solution and that the gnutls update is not the cause of the problem, but I can't understand why this is happening. Any idea? Several ports did not finish, but failed in www/webkit-gtk2, devel/libgdata, and devel/gvfs respectively. www/webkit-gtk2 dies with: ./WebCore/platform/network/soup/ResourceResponse.h:31:26: error: libsoup/soup.h: No such file or directory devel/libgdata dies with: gdata/gdata-marshal.c:5:25: error: glib-object.h: No such file or directory devel/gvfs dies with: soup-input-stream.c:28:26: error: libsoup/soup.h: No such file or directory I verified that the files are in fact installed and libdata/pkgconfig/libsoup-2.4.pc and libdata/pkgconfig/glib-2.0.pc contain Cflags including the include directories in question. The problems seems to be addressed in http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/getmsg.cgi?fetch=123081+0+current/cvs-ports -- although not sufficiently, as it does not cover the case with libtasn1.so.4 present during the gnutls build. After removing ", zlib" from "Requires.private: libtasn1 , zlib" in gnutls.pc, I was able to build devel/libgdata and devel/gvfs -- and www/webkit-gtk2 is still building here, already beyond the point that failed last time. I just found that Barbara reported essentially the same problem to freebsd-gnome a few hours earlier. Sorry for the duplication. Sorry for the duplication. I've removed the part that appends 'zlib' in configure, so things should be fine now I guess. If it is portupgrade(8), try "ps -axw | grep ade:". That will show how many ports are completed out of how many will be installed. portmaster(8) will display the count in the title bar if the window if the terminal you are using supports it. (If you are building on the console, there is no title bar.) As to the time, if you are building all of Gnome from ports, 36 hours is not unexpected. Gnome is huge...several hundred ports. It would have been a LOT faster to have installed packages (pre-built binaries similar to using apt or rpms) but, if you have been running for 36 hours, you are probably close to the end. A package-based install of Gnome only takes about an hour. -- R. Kevin Oberman, Network Engineer Energy Sciences Network (ESnet) Ernest O.
