The OpenJDK{6,7} sources don't include Rhino, although they do include hooks for it. IcedTea has some changes to pull in Rhino and rename the classes appropriately, IIRC, so someone could potentially port those changes over if they were motivated to do so. -- Greg Lewis Email : glewis@eyesbeyond.com Eyes Beyond Web : http://www.eyesbeyond.com Information Technology FreeBSD : glewis@FreeBSD.org From owner-freebsd-java@FreeBSD.ORG Tue Sep 6 04:50:58 2011 Return-Path: Delivered-To: java@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 288C6106566C for ; Tue, 6 Sep 2011 04:50:58 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from glewis@eyesbeyond.com) Received: from misty.eyesbeyond.com (gerbercreations.com [71.39.140.16]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id D413A8FC0C for ; Tue, 6 Sep 2011 04:50:57 +0000 (UTC) Received: from misty.eyesbeyond.com (localhost.eyesbeyond.com [127.0.0.1]) by misty.eyesbeyond.com (8.14.4/8.14.4) with ESMTP id p864RFMg070976; Mon, 5 Sep 2011 21:27:15 -0700 (PDT) (envelope-from glewis@eyesbeyond.com) Received: (from glewis@localhost) by misty.eyesbeyond.com (8.14.4/8.14.4/Submit) id p864REPc070975; Mon, 5 Sep 2011 21:27:14 -0700 (PDT) (envelope-from glewis@eyesbeyond.com) X-Authentication-Warning: misty.eyesbeyond.com: glewis set sender to glewis@eyesbeyond.com using -f Date: Mon, 5 Sep 2011 21:27:14 -0700 From: Greg Lewis To: Chris Rees Message-ID: <20110906042713.GA70947@misty.eyesbeyond.com> References: MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Disposition: inline In-Reply-To: User-Agent: Mutt/1.5.21 (2010-09-15) Cc: java@freebsd.org Subject: Re: CVE for Java X-BeenThere: freebsd-java@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: Porting Java to FreeBSD List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Tue, 06 Sep 2011 04:50:58 -0000 G'day Chris, On Sat, Sep 03, 2011 at 11:36:49AM +0100, Chris Rees wrote: > Hey all, > > Should there be a vuxml for this? Making it easier to set up web services on FreeBSD with ports like this are important advancements. That said, I haven't much experience with Axis2, so take my comments with a grain of salt. Reading this, should we understand that the port will initially install just the WAR file, but then once it's started up it will expand that WAR file and hence end up with the fully expanded set of files present on the file system? If so, adding all of the expanded files to the packing list isn't the correct solution since if a user installs and deinstalls the port they'll get a bunch of packing list errors (creating a package will have the same problem, meaning pointyhat will think the port is broken). > Beyond this, though, it is being suggested that the scope of the port be > opened to more than just the apache tomcat application server. For mine, installing in JAVAJARDIR makes sense if the JARs being installed there are "library" style JARs that other ports or development may depend on including in the class path for compilation. I think installing other JARs there doesn't make a lot of sense, at least to me, it just raises the possibility of conflicts with other ports. > Please cc me on replies, as I am not on freebsd-java, or java mailing lists. > Using a war is new for me, as my only other java-based port I maintain is > databases/jasperserver, although this is built from source. Just as an extra comment, why does the port favour Tomcat 5.5? Is that really the right version to be the default version of Tomcat used by the port given that Tomcat 7 has been available for a considerable amount of time? -- Greg Lewis Email : glewis@eyesbeyond.com Eyes Beyond Web : http://www.eyesbeyond.com Information Technology FreeBSD : glewis@FreeBSD.org From owner-freebsd-java@FreeBSD.ORG Tue Sep 6 05:16:37 2011 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-java@FreeBSD.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 60F7A106564A; Tue, 6 Sep 2011 05:16:37 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from glewis@eyesbeyond.com) Received: from misty.eyesbeyond.com (gerbercreations.com [71.39.140.16]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id D12B48FC18; Tue, 6 Sep 2011 05:16:30 +0000 (UTC) Received: from misty.eyesbeyond.com (localhost.eyesbeyond.com [127.0.0.1]) by misty.eyesbeyond.com (8.14.4/8.14.4) with ESMTP id p865GPYA071527; Mon, 5 Sep 2011 22:16:26 -0700 (PDT) (envelope-from glewis@eyesbeyond.com) Received: (from glewis@localhost) by misty.eyesbeyond.com (8.14.4/8.14.4/Submit) id p865GOL0071526; Mon, 5 Sep 2011 22:16:24 -0700 (PDT) (envelope-from glewis@eyesbeyond.com) X-Authentication-Warning: misty.eyesbeyond.com: glewis set sender to glewis@eyesbeyond.com using -f Date: Mon, 5 Sep 2011 22:16:24 -0700 From: Greg Lewis To: Jason Helfman Message-ID: <20110906051624.GC70947@misty.eyesbeyond.com> References: <20110829170520.GC59302@eggman.experts-exchange.com> MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Disposition: inline In-Reply-To: <20110829170520.GC59302@eggman.experts-exchange.com> User-Agent: Mutt/1.5.21 (2010-09-15) Cc: java@FreeBSD.org, freebsd-java@FreeBSD.org Subject: Re: new port, axis2 X-BeenThere: freebsd-java@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: Porting Java to FreeBSD List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Tue, 06 Sep 2011 05:16:37 -0000 G'day Jason, First off, thanks for taking the time to work on a port of axis2. Is that really the right version to be the default version of Tomcat used by the port given that Tomcat 7 has been available for a considerable amount of time? -- Greg Lewis Email : glewis@eyesbeyond.com Eyes Beyond Web : http://www.eyesbeyond.com Information Technology FreeBSD : glewis@FreeBSD.org From owner-freebsd-java@FreeBSD.ORG Tue Sep 6 17:00:00 2011 Return-Path: Delivered-To: java@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 26BBE1065674 for ; Tue, 6 Sep 2011 17:00:00 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from utisoft@gmail.com) Received: from mail-yi0-f54.google.com (mail-yi0-f54.google.com [209.85.218.54]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id D842B8FC16 for ; Tue, 6 Sep 2011 16:59:58 +0000 (UTC) Received: by yib19 with SMTP id 19so4916723yib.13 for ; Tue, 06 Sep 2011 09:59:58 -0700 (PDT) DKIM-Signature: v=1; a=rsa-sha256; c=relaxed/relaxed; d=gmail.com; s=gamma; h=mime-version:sender:in-reply-to:references:from:date :x-google-sender-auth:message-id:subject:to:cc:content-type :content-transfer-encoding; bh=5fDRuCB5xxEhPETJFV2qPfRg//Ot5gv/UUDZucGVHho=; b=BYqLAxGm1jCiGZPIPOyTG91GmjmpSe/Z9HFRzlDxh7Z6EEUCVK6xogcGicoB03ourb kVk4T5Ih/8c73kC4/MODj+40LzztFUNvTNAUxVUgPX8I5KTjtT25Zv/O8YJjMWMfFhH7 f16DbtUQqVFOVn/+Ls7dXRq3p4L1QifobFIRg= Received: by 10.43.44.73 with SMTP id uf9mr4808552icb.507.1315328398070; Tue, 06 Sep 2011 09:59:58 -0700 (PDT) MIME-Version: 1.0 Sender: utisoft@gmail.com Received: by 10.231.61.148 with HTTP; Tue, 6 Sep 2011 09:59:28 -0700 (PDT) In-Reply-To: <20110906042713.GA70947@misty.eyesbeyond.com> References: <20110906042713.GA70947@misty.eyesbeyond.com> From: Chris Rees Date: Tue, 6 Sep 2011 17:59:28 +0100 X-Google-Sender-Auth: 52aX08HuCIqMcHfUa6o-n87D71Y Message-ID: To: Greg Lewis Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1 Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable Cc: java@freebsd.org Subject: Re: CVE for Java X-BeenThere: freebsd-java@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: Porting Java to FreeBSD List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Tue, 06 Sep 2011 17:00:00 -0000 On 6 Sep 2011 05:27, "Greg Lewis" wrote: > > G'day Chris, > > On Sat, Sep 03, 2011 at 11:36:49AM +0100, Chris Rees wrote: > > Hey all, > > > > Should there be a vuxml for this? Any chance of new diablo ports? I don't mind helping to build them if that's what it needs; I'm not familiar with the process of making the tarballs. We really should stick in a vuxml too-- people need kicking up the backside to update! My direction was to update the port and expand the war file as part of the installation, and then list all of the files in the packaging list so that shouldn't be a worry when it comes to any part of the packaging process. > >> Beyond this, though, it is being suggested that the scope of the port be >> opened to more than just the apache tomcat application server. The only problem with installing it to JAVAJARDIR, is that with the war file expanded, as you may know, it isn't just jar files. There is an entire directory structure, as well. I was favoring tomcat55 as we are actually testing and using the axis2 application internally and know it works on this version. That being said, I could test on others and make them available. I could easily offer tomcat{5,6,7} as options, however I would make tomcat5 the default until it is no longer an option, or we start using tomcat6. We are looking at least at using a newer tomcat knowing that tomcat5 has an upcoming eol. > Thanks very much! So this may cause some issues, I would think, and would touch on your concerns. > >> Please cc me on replies, as I am not on freebsd-java, or java mailing lists. >> Using a war is new for me, as my only other java-based port I maintain is >> databases/jasperserver, although this is built from source. > >Just as an extra comment, why does the port favour Tomcat 5.5? I was favoring tomcat55 as we are actually testing and using the axis2 application internally and know it works on this version. That being said, I could test on others and make them available. I could easily offer tomcat{5,6,7} as options, however I would make tomcat5 the default until it is no longer an option, or we start using tomcat6.
