That reminded me about the /etc/rc.d/nfsd script update which needs a review. It's at: http://people.freebsd.org/~rmacklem/rc.conf (There is both a diff and the updated script there.) This nfsd change allows the script /etc/rc.d/nfsserver to be deleted. Hopefully you can do this soon, before the code freeze, rick From owner-freebsd-rc@FreeBSD.ORG Thu Jul 7 02:34:54 2011 Return-Path: Delivered-To: rc@FreeBSD.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 300E9106564A for ; Thu, 7 Jul 2011 02:34:54 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from hrs@FreeBSD.org) Received: from mail.vlsi.ee.noda.tus.ac.jp (sekine00.ee.noda.sut.ac.jp [133.31.107.40]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 6067C8FC16 for ; Thu, 7 Jul 2011 02:34:53 +0000 (UTC) Received: from alph.allbsd.org (p3028-ipbf608funabasi.chiba.ocn.ne.jp [125.175.94.28]) (user=hrs mech=DIGEST-MD5 bits=128) by mail.vlsi.ee.noda.tus.ac.jp (8.14.4/8.14.4) with ESMTP id p6726QhA060204 (version=TLSv1/SSLv3 cipher=DHE-RSA-AES256-SHA bits=256 verify=NO); Thu, 7 Jul 2011 11:06:36 +0900 (JST) (envelope-from hrs@FreeBSD.org) Received: from localhost (localhost [IPv6:::1]) (authenticated bits=0) by alph.allbsd.org (8.14.4/8.14.4) with ESMTP id p6726NIm043566; Thu, 7 Jul 2011 11:06:25 +0900 (JST) (envelope-from hrs@FreeBSD.org) Date: Thu, 07 Jul 2011 11:06:20 +0900 (JST) Message-Id: <20110707.110620.989156660090715808.hrs@allbsd.org> To: rmacklem@uoguelph.ca From: Hiroki Sato In-Reply-To: <347974293.291780.1310001747423.JavaMail.root@erie.cs.uoguelph.ca> References: <347974293.291780.1310001747423.JavaMail.root@erie.cs.uoguelph.ca> X-PGPkey-fingerprint: BDB3 443F A5DD B3D0 A530 FFD7 4F2C D3D8 2793 CF2D X-Mailer: Mew version 6.3 on Emacs 23.1 / Mule 6.0 (HANACHIRUSATO) Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: Multipart/Signed; protocol="application/pgp-signature"; micalg=pgp-sha1; boundary="--Security_Multipart(Thu_Jul__7_11_06_20_2011_255)--" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit X-Greylist: Sender succeeded SMTP AUTH, not delayed by milter-greylist-4.2.5 (mail.vlsi.ee.noda.tus.ac.jp [133.31.107.40]); Thu, 07 Jul 2011 11:06:36 +0900 (JST) X-Spam-Status: No, score=2.8 required=14.0 tests=BAYES_50, CONTENT_TYPE_PRESENT, RCVD_IN_RP_RNBL, SPF_SOFTFAIL, X_MAILER_PRESENT autolearn=no version=3.3.1 X-Spam-Level: ** X-Spam-Checker-Version: SpamAssassin 3.3.1 (2010-03-16) on mail.vlsi.ee.noda.tus.ac.jp Cc: rc@FreeBSD.org Subject: Re: nfsd script update review X-BeenThere: freebsd-rc@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: "Discussion related to /etc/rc.d design and implementation." Looks good to me. By the way, one thing I noticed when I tested the new NFS implementation (mainly for the version 3) was that NFS file handle seemed not compatible with the old one. The reason why I thought so was that when I went back and forth between the two implementations on an file server, I had to do remount on all of the clients due to "Stale NFS file handle" error. I am sorry for my laziness not investigating the changes, but is my understanding correct? If true, this will be an obstacle when one wants to seamlessly upgrade his NFS server with a lot of clients. I want to know if there is any workaround for that. -- Hiroki ----Security_Multipart(Thu_Jul__7_11_06_20_2011_255)-- Content-Type: application/pgp-signature Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.11 (FreeBSD) iEYEABECAAYFAk4VFJwACgkQTyzT2CeTzy3ZowCgilztEYLIaxhLuOBdbqNPeCdW qQMAoIp0VQ3guZfklX6Br0jQVBZPICxg =rOLS -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- ----Security_Multipart(Thu_Jul__7_11_06_20_2011_255)---- From owner-freebsd-rc@FreeBSD.ORG Thu Jul 7 07:36:12 2011 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-rc@hub.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 2AE31106566B; Thu, 7 Jul 2011 07:36:12 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from dougb@FreeBSD.org) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (freefall.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::28]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 03B588FC1C; Thu, 7 Jul 2011 07:36:12 +0000 (UTC) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.14.4/8.14.4) with ESMTP id p677aBUv027316; Thu, 7 Jul 2011 07:36:11 GMT (envelope-from dougb@freefall.freebsd.org) Received: (from dougb@localhost) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.14.4/8.14.4/Submit) id p677aBVm027294; Thu, 7 Jul 2011 07:36:11 GMT (envelope-from dougb) Date: Thu, 7 Jul 2011 07:36:11 GMT Message-Id: <201107070736.p677aBVm027294@freefall.freebsd.org> To: amdmi3@FreeBSD.org, dougb@FreeBSD.org, freebsd-rc@FreeBSD.org, dougb@FreeBSD.org From: dougb@FreeBSD.org Cc: Subject: Re: conf/133987: [rc.d] defaultroute broken with DHCP in some cases X-BeenThere: freebsd-rc@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: "Discussion related to /etc/rc.d design and implementation."
