Should I add this as a custom > IOCTL? Hi, Modem drivers can have custom IOCTL's. Try to look at other modem drivers, if they already have something like that. Else you need to define your own ioctl file, which you can put in /sys/dev/usb/ which is then automagically exported to userspace. The set config message doesn't have any data stage, so the USB stack is waiting for the status stage callback. Either that is caused by: 1) Lost interrupt on EHCI or 2) Device never sends the status stage (needs a bus analyzer for this). Maybe the intervalled control request should be started from a timer/callout instead. --HPS From owner-freebsd-usb@FreeBSD.ORG Sat Nov 12 08:33:43 2011 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-usb@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 95BBF106566C for ; Sat, 12 Nov 2011 08:33:43 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from jdl.ntq@gmail.com) Received: from mail-yw0-f54.google.com (mail-yw0-f54.google.com [209.85.213.54]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 587F98FC08 for ; Sat, 12 Nov 2011 08:33:43 +0000 (UTC) Received: by ywe9 with SMTP id 9so1748859ywe.13 for ; Sat, 12 Nov 2011 00:33:42 -0800 (PST) DKIM-Signature: v=1; a=rsa-sha256; c=relaxed/relaxed; d=gmail.com; s=gamma; h=mime-version:in-reply-to:references:date:message-id:subject:from:to :cc:content-type; bh=hGHVe1Eqtf7iHH0+K1khp5AX04YYK5BhM0g+kol7YnA=; b=wc36D3BnXDBm/dXj9b5a6k8CfsVwQ2f34+26O/pwUooXi2x3xXPJzbxXAAQREPFgH7 JhhEfTXHGKmPD7Mnbg6l5NuDwPDMNEQ9eyu5JfTEPWlAQkcW+CERPQDJP+0ts3hlfITr Zja4ImOd3HvdGFIt2dfdmvx0mgZlt3AIljlCw= MIME-Version: 1.0 Received: by 10.68.28.133 with SMTP id b5mr31281394pbh.28.1321086822226; Sat, 12 Nov 2011 00:33:42 -0800 (PST) Received: by 10.68.52.74 with HTTP; Sat, 12 Nov 2011 00:33:42 -0800 (PST) In-Reply-To: <201111120839.41108.hselasky@c2i.net> References: <201111120839.41108.hselasky@c2i.net> Date: Sat, 12 Nov 2011 10:33:42 +0200 Message-ID: From: JD Louw To: Hans Petter Selasky Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1 Cc: freebsd-usb@freebsd.org Subject: Re: [uslcom][patch] Add GPIO support X-BeenThere: freebsd-usb@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: FreeBSD support for USB List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Sat, 12 Nov 2011 08:33:43 -0000 On Sat, Nov 12, 2011 at 9:39 AM, Hans Petter Selasky wrote: > On Friday 11 November 2011 22:06:19 JD Louw wrote: >> This patch adds custom IOCTLs to read and write the 4 GPIO pins on the >> cp2103 usb-to-serial chip. Reducing the control interval to 100ms does cause a corresponding IOCTL time drop. It won't be usable for bit banging, but that's probably not what the GPIOs were intended for. For my purposes 150 ms is fine. Is there an example of starting control requests from a timer/callout? If you want I can have a look, but as it stands I'm happy with it.
