I think the problem is related to creation of new terminal device in my system. When I run rfcomm_sppd in the foreground, everything works fine: $ rfcomm_sppd -a F11 rfcomm_sppd[1488]: Starting on stdin/stdout... ^Crfcomm_sppd[1488]: Signal 2 received. Total 1 signals received rfcomm_sppd[1488]: Completed on stdin/stdout $echo $? 0 But when I try to use pty/tty instead of the device, rfcomm_sppd fails silently with error code 1 and no device is created: $ sudo rfcomm_sppd -a F11 -t /dev/ptyp2 $ echo $? 1 $ sudo rfcomm_sppd -a F11 -t /dev/ttyp2 $ echo $? 1 $ ls /dev/*yp2 zsh: no matches found: /dev/*yp2 Am I missing something? regards, Barnaba Turek From owner-freebsd-bluetooth@FreeBSD.ORG Fri Apr 13 15:12:02 2012 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-bluetooth@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [69.147.83.52]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id F0C08106564A for ; Fri, 13 Apr 2012 15:12:02 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from xavierfreebsdbluetooth@aim.com) Received: from imr-ma04.mx.aol.com (imr-ma04.mx.aol.com [64.12.206.42]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id A71498FC17 for ; Fri, 13 Apr 2012 15:12:02 +0000 (UTC) Received: from mtaomg-da02.r1000.mx.aol.com (mtaomg-da02.r1000.mx.aol.com [172.29.51.138]) by imr-ma04.mx.aol.com (8.14.1/8.14.1) with ESMTP id q3DFC09v001928 for ; Fri, 13 Apr 2012 11:12:00 -0400 Received: from core-did004a.r1000.mail.aol.com (core-did004.r1000.mail.aol.com [172.29.231.13]) by mtaomg-da02.r1000.mx.aol.com (OMAG/Core Interface) with ESMTP id F2AC4E00008F for ; Fri, 13 Apr 2012 11:11:59 -0400 (EDT) To: freebsd-bluetooth@freebsd.org X-MB-Message-Source: WebUI X-MB-Message-Type: User MIME-Version: 1.0 From: Xavier X-Mailer: AOL Webmail 35964-STANDARD Received: from 87.223.126.37 by webmail-d028.sysops.aol.com (205.188.167.88) with HTTP (WebMailUI); Fri, 13 Apr 2012 11:12:00 -0400 Message-Id: <8CEE79EE8AB6037-C2C-2489@webmail-d028.sysops.aol.com> X-Originating-IP: [87.223.126.37] Date: Fri, 13 Apr 2012 11:11:59 -0400 (EDT) x-aol-global-disposition: G DKIM-Signature: v=1; a=rsa-sha256; c=relaxed/relaxed; d=mx.aol.com; s=20110426; t=1334329920; bh=Gz9iUPjgf/Ly+mUTEfXd+aewCRQfBLUfHyD9HvpZinY=; h=From:To:Subject:Message-Id:Date:MIME-Version:Content-Type; b=tR4VFipp/zW/xdqoYaSQbRdc16+vHOBu1dmQ1vKsO1gniFzgg6ePVkpjZv/kfK5kd KVBTOOfp3QZkGvwQEwLs97Bx2tghwlaC4i0n+h5/YtdSuSiGbsva1UZo8X3cA4GU58 0i84op1Gsex4cout30c3eUVTtTTtM+aqTaNU6f7g= X-AOL-SCOLL-SCORE: 0:2:328847296:93952408 X-AOL-SCOLL-URL_COUNT: 0 x-aol-sid: 3039ac1d338a4f88423f75a0 X-Mailman-Approved-At: Fri, 13 Apr 2012 15:30:34 +0000 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable X-Content-Filtered-By: Mailman/MimeDel 2.1.5 Subject: '/etc/rc.d/bluetooth start ubt0' don't show debug messages X-BeenThere: freebsd-bluetooth@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: Using Bluetooth in FreeBSD environments List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Fri, 13 Apr 2012 15:12:03 -0000 Hi to all, I'm following the "32.4.2 Plugging in the Device" section of our Handbook.
